Job Description

ABOUT US

Ministry of Sound opened in 1991 in a disused bus garage in a forgotten corner of South London. It was the first nightclub in the UK to have a 24-hour licence, didn’t serve alcohol and featured an earth-shaking sound system in a specially constructed dance box.

We went on to become the world’s largest independent record company and stage giant dance events, including one for 50,000 people at the Millennium Dome.

We were pioneers in electronic music and have a history of taking risks, innovation, and colourful and creative marketing. As a business we don’t take ourselves too seriously, like to laugh and have fun, but we have high standards, a relentless attention to detail and the continuous improvement of our product, and we work hard as a team.

We hate cliché, doing things the way others do and continuously seek to differentiate our brands and products almost as a point of pride. Thirty years later we opened The Ministry, a workspace run as a member’s club, in a 50,000 sq. ft Victorian warehouse in SE1. The design is relaxed but functional with a bar, opening windows, an outside courtyard and plenty of space to sit, relax, work and socialise – everything you wouldn’t expect to find in a standard office.

There’s excellent F&B, a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio with daily classes, together with a cultural and business events programme. The building has its own events and conference space and we’re about to introduce our own premium range of candles, diffusers, soaps, and other body care products. We believe this is the office of the future, members love it and it has been a big success.

We plan to take this a stage further with the opening of our second site at Westfield White City in early 2025. Members will access the office via an urban garden before ascending an escalator to a bar and deli with a five-metre floor to ceiling height. In addition to a private gym for members, the workspace will include wellness studios, a bakery, rooftop bar and restaurant, juice bar and champagne and doughnut bar, all public facing. There will be an events and conference facility and multiple other products and amenities not typically associated with a workspace.

THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Senior Graphic Designer with excellent typographic and motion graphics skills to join and lead our in-house team of creative designers.

You will work across our portfolio of brands, including the world-famous nightclub, our hospitality-led workspace, a new restaurant and bar, a home fragrance and body care brand, our fitness concept, and our dog charity.

Based in our London office, your key focus will be to lead the innovation and creative development alongside the Creative Director, Group Marketing Director, and other heads of business to make The Ministry the most exciting and engaging brand in the market.

This will involve significant collaboration with all parts of the business and require strong leadership and development of the creative design team. You will play a vital role in creating visually stunning designs that excite our audience and promote our brand across various platforms.

Your expertise will help us deliver captivating visual experiences that enhance our venues, marketing campaigns, events, and digital content.

You will have a great work ethic, able to lead but equally comfortable being hands on when the business requires. You will be happy to work within a highly productive team in a fast-changing environment and be comfortable with ambiguity.

You will be proudly organised with excellent time management skills and passionate about your work, have a desire to do things differently, and plenty of experience to handle projects from briefing to completion.

You will be an excellent communicator and able to present ideas with clarity and engagement at all levels.

You will have layout skills and some digital design experience from graphic to userinterface design and an understanding of UI/UX is also important.

This is a new and exciting role that will lean on the successful candidate to be inspirational and current. You will stay up to date with industry trends, techniques, and relevant software, bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the team whilst also challenging and developing our style.
