Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced manager with experience of leadership in a production environment to join our team as a permanent employee in the role of Production Manager.

Contract type: Full time PAYE, permanent

Salary range: From £46,400.00 (depending on experience, plus paid overtime and increased rate for site working outside London)

Regular work hours: 8:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday (plus paid overtime as required)

Location: London, SE15 6SB (plus on-site work within London and occasionally elsewhere in the UK)

About the role

Production Manager is a varied and dynamic management role, with responsibility for coordinating production works undertaken by our specialist fabrication team in a fast-paced, creative environment. You will manage production programmes, procurement and equipment in our studio to facilitate high standards of output while maintaining project deadlines. You will bring experience of leadership and project delivery to our management team to support the continued development of our business.

Key tasks

  • Manage production programme for the studio in dialogue with Operations Manager and Director.
  • Manage the procurement of studio consumables and materials for project production.
  • Work with Project Managers to develop production schedules and procurement lists for individual projects, and to coordinate outsourced services.
  • Collate design information from drawings and 3D models produced by Designers and manage internal communications to Fabricators.
  • Act as main point of contact for Fabricators regarding studio production processes.
  • Manage internal communications about workflow, production timelines, and other project updates.
  • Ensure production works are undertaken in accordance with the company’s health and safety policy, standard operating procedures, and relevant professional standards (i.e. UKCA).
  • Take a mindful approach to work: mitigating risk, maximising efficiency and minimising wastage.
  • Promote high standards of craft and implement quality control procedures.
  • Promote a positive and proactive health and safety culture, including developing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), standard operating procedures, and guidelines for best practice to support training.
  • Contribute to team meetings up to management level and feed into recruitment processes to support the growth and development of our team.
  • Foster good working relationships within the team, engendering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Represent the company in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Report to the Director.

Key requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in a production environment (essential)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in a management role (essential)
  • Leading a team in the delivery of successful projects (essential)
  • Managing procurement, workflow and high quality production (essential)
  • Integration of design and making to realise projects (essential)
  • Ability to organise and manage time, both individual and project-related (essential)
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills (essential)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (essential)
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of craft, with attention to detail and commitment to quality (essential)
  • Confident working from fabrication drawings and 3D models in Rhino (essential)
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations and best practice for compliance (essential)
  • Computer literate, working across PC and Mac on administrative programmes (i.e. Microsoft Office, Powerprojects) (essential)
  • Reliable and responsible attitude to work (essential)
  • Ability to transfer existing skills to new materials, processes and contexts (essential)
  • Right to work in the UK without restrictions (essential)
  • Current SMSTS, SSSTS, CSCS card, or equivalent qualification (desirable)
  • Other relevant professional training (First Aid, Fire Safety, PASMA, IPAF etc.) (desirable)
