Studio & Project Assistant
Job Description
We are looking for a Studio & Project Assistant to join our design studio in London. This role sits at the heart of A Practice for Everyday Life, and is crucial to ensure the smooth running of the studio. You will be a key studio administrator, assisting the Directors on running the studio – from new business proposals to studio administrative tasks – and the wider team with support for projects.
This role is for a candidate who is keen to develop a coherent understanding of studio operations and successful project delivery, and enjoys working as part of a small team.
- This is a part time role, based in the APFEL studio in East London.
- 18 hours per week – there is flexibility in the hours and days of work.
- Salary: £26,000–£28,000 (pro rata).

About Us
A Practice for Everyday Life (APFEL) is a multidisciplinary studio for art direction, graphic design and type design based in London. The studio collaborates with cultural institutions, brands, and contemporary artists on a diverse range of projects, spanning art direction, brand identity, web design, editorial design, exhibitions and type design.

About the Role
- Administrative support on projects.
- Assist Directors with new business correspondence, administration and drafting proposals.
- Support the team with APFEL website and social media updates, including copy-editing texts and drafting social media captions.
- Assist with organising cultural aspects of the studio.
- Maintain internal systems and set up new projects.
- Order office supplies, and assisting with office administration.
- Maintain the suppliers list and shared calendars.
- Log studio receipts and shop orders.
Your Experience and Skills
- Interest in graphic design and branding.
- Enjoy working collaboratively in a fast-paced studio.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective organisational and time management skills.
- Solutions focused, taking a detail oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Mac OS literate and high proficiency in Google Workspace and MS Office.
- Educated to degree level and/or equivalent working experience (ideally 1–2 years’ in a studio environment).
- Knowledge of design, web, print and production processes (beneficial).
- Basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign, project management and tracking software (beneficial).
