Job Description
We’re looking for a freelance Social Media Manager to join our small marketing team.
2-3 days a week for 6 months initially but we'd love to turn this into a permanent role.
You will create content that brings Newspaper Club to life online and helps grow our community. Working closely with the Brand and Community Manager and CMO, the role blends hands-on content creation with community building – sharing customer stories, sparking conversations and keeping our channels engaging and on brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Social Media Management:
- Oversee Newspaper Club’s social media accounts (TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.), posting regularly and interacting with followers.
- Monitor trends and conversations on social media and create content that aligns with those trends while staying true to our brand.
- Explore and grow new platforms for Newspaper Club (Pinterest, Threads, etc)
Community Engagement:
- Foster and grow Newspaper Club’s online community across existing platforms (Instagram / TikTok/ LinkedIn)
- Finding interesting creatives to follow and engage with - respond to comments, engage with relevant accounts.
- Highlight potential brand advocates, influencers, and partners to amplify Newspaper Club’s presence and create buzz around key initiatives and product releases.
- Support at in-person events
Content Creation:
- Use existing marketing and content calendar to inform content creation
- Edit engaging, high-quality visual, and video content that resonates with our target audiences based on briefs from Community and Brand Manager.
- Ensure all content is optimised for different platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and Pinterest).
- Provide support to photographer on monthly photoshoots.
- Ad hoc graphic design such as tweaks to emails, social media captions, templates for Instagram for instance.
Environmental and Social:
- Ensuring all work is carried out with reference to the Newspaper Club ethical marketing policy.
- Showcasing our company’s environmental initiatives and driving authentic communication around sustainability efforts.
Analytics & Reporting:
- Test and optimise content based on key metrics
- Regularly report on community engagement and content performance to the Community and Brand Manager/CMO and make recommendations for improvement.
What You’ll Bring:
- 1 - 2 years experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms, algorithms and what drives engagement.
- A portfolio which demonstrates design execution across digital formats.
- Familiar with Photoshop, Canva and CapCut.
- Ability to collaborate to ensure consistent brand messaging.
- Comfortable with video creation and editing, with experience in platforms like Instagram Reels and TikTok.
- A good eye for detail and excellent organisational skills.
- A passion for print media and creativity
