This Never Happened

Salary: Dependant on experience and agreed terms as we're flexible and open to different scenarios.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Lane 8's record label, This Never Happened. In just over six years, This Never Happened has become one of the most respected labels in melodic house music. With three albums released by label boss Lane 8, This Never Happened has accumulated over 700 million streams across its catalog and recently picked up its first Grammy nomination. It has also become one of the most playlisted labels on SiriusXM Chill and is regularly featured across key editorial playlists. The label's roster includes talented artists such as Sultan + Shepard, Le Youth, Jerro, and EMBRZ, along with a growing list of up-and-coming artists.

As in-house Graphic Designer & Creative at This Never Happened, you are responsible for facilitating, delivering and overseeing all visual communication from the label brand.

You will be responsible for directing and setting the standards for our visual communications, creative and content, ensuring consistency and quality control are maintained at all times.

You will help shape artist visions into workable creative briefs, oversee and guide third party content creators and deliver innovative creative campaigns that get our brand seen by the widest possible audience.

You’ll have the ability to think beyond-brief and collaborate with the product managers, artist managers and artists themselves to realise innovative visual campaigns and content that will tell our label and artist stories in the most engaging way possible.

You will maintain, update and evolve our internal brand guidelines and templates, ensuring engagement and coherency across every aspect of our visual brand.

As in-house graphic designer and creative within a boutique operation, you will work on a variety of projects from artist album campaigns to single release packshots, radio and mix assets, social media content, logos, event flyers, tour visuals and more. Each of these may require a slightly different approach and workflow.

Responsibilities:

Participate in the brainstorming and ideation phase of projects, contributing fresh and innovative design concepts in kick off meetings

Create and design visually engaging and innovative pitches and concept work that meet objectives and vision of our artist campaigns

Collaborate with the team to develop design concepts, graphics, and layouts that resonate with the target audience

Deliver, and when necessary design and create, the graphics, content and video itself

Devising and delivering creative digital representations of our label brand

Overseeing photo shoots, video shoots and content capture, advising on treatment and styling

Maintain internal design databases, systems and resources

Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, techniques, and technologies

Act as internal voice and authority on all creative and design related output

Create custom product templates and bespoke visuals, when necessary

Produce annual reports on the brand’s visual communication output, advising on creative strategy and direction for the following year

Skills and attributes:

• Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a must. (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects)

• A good understanding of motion graphics and video editing

• Proven understanding of layout, typography, composition and colour

• An understanding of the importance of art and design within the music industry

• Proactive with great attention to detail

• The ability to prioritize, work on multiple projects and be adaptable in a dynamic environment

• Champion consistency across the labels through working to brand guidelines

• Ability to take direction from design team or work off own initiative as required

• Have an awareness of the variety of ways in which our content is presented across social media

• Desire to work within a design team elevating the This Never Happened brand

Desirable:

• Design ability in 3D software

• Interest in new software and technologies for producing visuals
