Job Description

At Nice and Serious, we believe in making creative work the world needs. We have our feet firmly on the ground and know the world doesn’t need more of the same. It needs us to draw a line in the sand, and back the people fixing things. It needs us to change minds, and make people demand better.

Our team of 20 people is a mix of filmmakers, strategists, art directors, coders, designers, copywriters, animators and client services. Over the last 10 years we’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the most innovative, purpose-led brands including Breast Cancer Now, Parkrun, innocent, Greenpeace, Dogs Trust, Unilever, Ben & Jerry’s, Nando’s and WWF. Who we’re looking for

We’re on the hunt for a front-end developer to join our growing team. If this sounds interesting then please read on!

Responsibilities

  • You can write semantic, accessible HTML and modular, scalable CSS
  • You feel right at home with vanilla JavaScript but have some experience with frameworks such as React or Vue
  • You’ve got experience building performant, responsive layouts with silky smooth user interactions
  • You can assess the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and are comfortable quoting development time for prospective work
  • You’ve got experience writing CMS templates, ideally with Craft CMS.
  • You can use Git to version control code
  • You’re comfortable with the command line and have experience working with task runners or bundlers like Webpack.
  • You’re quick to adapt to new languages, technologies and relish the chance for solving new problems
  • You can navigate your way around Sketch, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • You’re comfortable with SVGs and have maybe tinkered with chart libraries such as D3
  • Ideally, server-side stuff doesn’t scare you and you even know some basic PHP or Node

  • We are currently trialing a 4-day work week (on Friday the studio is closed). We hope to make it a permanent change if the trial is successful.
