Job Description

Graphic Thought Facility is looking for a middleweight graphic designer to join our team. The role focuses on the creation of illustrated books on contemporary art, fashion, design and photography. It also encompasses the production of both digital assets and graphics for environments and exhibition spaces.

Working from our East London studio, with directors, fellow designers, clients and production suppliers, the role requires an involvement in all stages of the design process, including conception, production of mock-ups, the art-direction of photography, the writing of specifications, artworking, typesetting, colour-proofing and the overseeing of production.

The desired candidate will have:

  • 2+ years’ experience designing printed publications
  • a good understanding of the book production process
  • a strength in typography, layout and an exceptional eye for detail
  • a good level of practical craftsmanship, i.e. the making of mock-ups and dummies
  • the ability to analyse the needs of a project and to construct intelligent graphic solutions
  • the ability to create practical solutions with creative flair and sensitivity
  • an in-depth knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • a strong interest in design, contemporary art and photography
  • good spoken and written English
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • excellent organisation and project management skills
  • the desire to work as part of a team
  • the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • a high level of self-motivation
