Job Description

Shakespeare’s Globe is currently seeking a talented Graphic Designer to help us communicate our brand story to a wide audience.

We are committed to improving diversity and inclusion across our organisation. Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single specification. If you’re excited about the role but your experience or qualifications don’t perfectly align, we encourage you to apply anyway. We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups such as the global majority, LGBTQA+, those with a disability and neurodiverse conditions.

The role:

The Graphic designer will support the Senior Designer across the development and artworking of digital as well printed creative assets, for the purpose of promoting and engaging audiences with all aspects of the Globe’s activities.

This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and we are happy to discuss flexible working. This role is based on-site at the theatre office; however, we are currently working to a hybrid-working model, with at least 60% of the working week in the office and some days working from home.

The skills:

The successful candidate will have an eye for detail, with experience in developing concepts from idea to execution, as well as artworking experience in Adobe suite, ensuring that the artwork follows our brand guidelines. We are looking for someone with experience as a mid-weight designer, with an exceptional eye for detail, typographical skills, confident in both digital and print design. The candidate will need to demonstrate animation skills or the willingness to learn them, and a creative approach to design in order to keep content engaging across multiple platforms and for a variety of audiences. As an organisation, the Globe is committed to the principles of equality, diversity and anti-racism and implementing them throughout our work, so we ask all colleagues to have a personal commitment to this too.

The team:

The Audiences Department includes the Marketing and Digital & Data teams, as well as Press/PR, Ticketing and Sales, Retail and Visitor and Audience Operations. They all own the customer journey from start to finish and strive to be insight driven, customer focused and digital first in approach.

Responsible for demanding revenue targets across everything we do and reaching the widest possible global audience onsite and online, we are an innovative, collaborative and creative team. Working closely with producing, education and development we build customer loyalty and diversify our live and digital audiences by creating innovative design and content to engage them and stand out. We are results oriented and measure, test and learn as we try new ideas.

The Marketing team includes a Campaigns team working across all of our output, a Design and Brand team, a Digital Content team, and a Social Media team. They work together to deliver shared audience and revenue targets for the whole organisation.

Shakespeare’s Globe:

We celebrate Shakespeare’s transformative impact on the world by conducting a radical theatrical experiment. Inspired and informed by the unique historic playing conditions of two beautiful iconic theatres, our diverse programme of work harnesses the power of performance, cultivates intellectual curiosity, and excites learning to make Shakespeare accessible for all.
