We are looking for a talented and passionate visual communication designer.

This role is perfect for an exceptionally rounded and versatile designer. If you are comfortable working both on digital and physical projects; then this position is right for you.

You will be involved all the way through a project, from brief to completion. You will be able to make a difference by working on projects that identify and solve problems across a variety of industries with organisations large and small, established and new. Together, we will create world-class human-centred products, services, experiences, and more.

Key skills are the ability to research and design across the physical and digital realm, self manage your workload, and deliver outstanding quality on time. The ideal candidate lives and breathes design, and will need to be very comfortable multitasking and dealing with the unpredictable nature of a small creative studio.

This is a full time hybrid role (You can work at home on Thursdays and Fridays).

The gross salary for this role is £30,000 pa for 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

✏️ Concept generation, design, development, prototyping, UX + UI: you will work with designers of different backgrounds across all parts of the design process to turn bold new ideas into tangible products and services that improve people’s lives. You will design, prototype, and execute delightful human experiences which act as the interface between an organisation’s customers and their products, services, and brand. This might mean designing user interfaces, low and high fidelity prototypes, even creating production-ready assets. We're seeking someone exceptionally creative in graphic design (e.g., branding), fluent in User Interface Design (e.g., mocking up Apps and user interfaces to a credible standard), and meticulous in Physical Prototyping and Model making. Product Design, video editing, and animation skills are a plus.

🔍 Research: We are looking for someone curious and inspired by people, someone who can articulate a human-centred approach to design and is eager to go out into the world for inspiration. In this role, you will need to help craft research plans, research questions, and discussion guides but also experiment and explore new ways of doing research. You will need to feel comfortable participating in a wide variety of research, including one-on-one interviews and ethnographic-style fieldwork.

📷 Photography & community management: you will create pictures to illustrate our inventions and document the studio creative process both for public and confidential projects, you will work closely with the Marketing team to grow and maintain our social media presence.

🐝 Team skills: Ability to work in a participatory, team-based environment, to support and learn from your colleagues. As part of a small studio that is still growing, you must demonstrate a collaborative working style, great communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a non-rules based environment of creative innovation.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of design experience in a design studio or creative consultancy.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, or other relevant discipline.
  • Strong portfolio and an elevated sense of design.
  • Experience with a variety of visual and interactive prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, KeyShot, Apple iWork suite, Google Workspace, etc).
  • Photographic and documenting skills, both in studio settings and documentary style.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work with video (Adobe Premiere) and motion graphics (Adobe After Effects) is a plus.
  • Right to work in the UK.
