Contract: 3 Month Fixed Term Contract (with possibility of a permanent role)

Location: London (Hybrid working – 3 days in London office (South Kensington)

About On the Edge

On the Edge is a not-for-profit creative studio that gives nature the starring role. As a UK charity, we leverage science and creativity—across film, television, music, events, and more—to bring audiences closer to the wonder, fun, and beauty of the natural world. By harnessing pop culture, we aim to change hearts, minds and ultimately behaviour, inspiring a new generation of allies, stewards, and advocates for nature. Our goal is to spark societal change by connecting people with nature and motivating real-world action.

Role

We are looking for a Creative Director to join us on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for this to become a permanent role for the right candidate.

Working closely with the senior leadership team and a small group of creative professionals, you will initially focus on a project to translate our strategy and brand to a striking new visual identity. Beyond this, the first priority will be to lead the design of a new website.

Through time, should the role become permanent, you will help to shape the creative direction of our organisation more broadly and to contribute to the development of campaigns across different media (TV, film, music, events) that capture the imagination, producing work that is fun, culturally relevant and emotionally resonant.

Focus: 3-Month Project

  • Translate the organisation’s strategy and brand to create a coherent, striking visual identity
  • Lead the design and build-out of a new website

Key Responsibilities

  • Brief, steer and support a small team of creatives, ensuring work is ambitious and mission-aligned
  • Collaborate with senior team members to shape our visual identity, voice and long-term creative direction
  • Bring together different parts of the organisation in creative ideation and exploration: scientists, digital experts, copywriters, designers etc.
  • Work with external partners (e.g. artists, talent, agencies etc.) to co-create impactful work
  • Oversee storytelling across different media: film, TV, music, social, live events and more

We are especially interested in hearing from people who:

  • Have led or directed creative teams or large-scale projects / brands
  • Have experience of working across multiple media and formats
  • Have deep knowledgeable of pop culture, social trends and how to translate audience insights to develop impactful campaigns
  • Have delivered great creative work on smaller budgets
  • Thrive in small teams and are prepared to get their hands dirty!
