Colville-Walker are an established, independent design studio based in Shoreditch, London. We are looking for an intelligent, ideas led designer with strong senior level experience to join our team of creatives on a freelance/contract basis.

Who we are looking for

A boundary pushing, senior level designer with a strong work ethic, who can show a deep understanding and like minded approach to the creative process.

Portfolios that showcase exceptional ideas, creativity and craft with an emphasis on brand identity and image making.

Required skills and experience

  • 6+ years of experience in branding supplemented with art direction and digital design.
  • Excellent Adobe CS skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Proficient knowledge of Figma.
  • Research driven.
  • Outstanding level of conceptual thinking and communication.
  • Ability to own the brief and deliver inspiring, innovative and delightful work.
  • Experienced in presenting to clients/stakeholders as well as liaising directly with production teams, such as printers and digital developers.
  • Exceptional understanding of both print and digital production processes.
  • Highly organised – directly within artwork files and project folder structures.
  • Detailed orientated – ensures consistency across touch-points, looks out for typos etc.
  • Can manage multiple projects, competing deadlines and/or priorities.
  • Discerning individual able to understand when to be collaborative and when to be self directed.
  • Experienced in leading and guiding other designers.
  • Has a strong understanding and passion for the arts, culture and wider creative landscape.
  • Fluent in English.

Priority will be given to candidates who can demonstrate any of the below

  • Theoretically engaged with design, art and architecture.
  • Proven experience in art directing campaigns and still life.
  • A strong network with casting agents, photographers, printers etc.
  • Competent type design knowledge, with an interest in vernacular designs and the linage of different typefaces. Ability to use Glyphs a bonus.
  • Thorough experience in building and using design systems for medium to large scale digital projects, such as e-commerce websites.
  • Understanding best digital practices.
  • Ability to prototype digital designs with a keen interest in how interaction design can push designs.
  • 3D Design, Motion Design and/or Moving Image.

6-12 month freelance contract 

Our studio maintains a flexible working policy but the successful candidate will be expected in the studio for a minimum of three days a week. 

Flexibility for ad hoc remote working as and when required/suitable. 

Day rate/salary based on experience.
