Job Description

A brilliant role is available within a first-class creative marketing team for an award-winning restaurant company. Based at Dishoom’s Babu* House (head office) in Shoreditch, with a unique set of responsibilities and the opportunity to contribute to an innovative, much-loved, founder-led brand which values culture, creative and customer experience above all else.

We’re looking for someone spirited, creative, resourceful and super-organised to join us on a full-time, permanent contract.

Sitting in the copy team, you’ll take the lead on editing and proofing all Dishoom and Permit Room copy, ensuring everything we publish is clear, consistent, charming and error-free – in addition to crafting beautiful and compelling copy yourself. This role is crucial in carrying the voice of Dishoom and Permit Room brand across all touchpoints, ensuring consistency and creativity in all our communications. This is a hands-on role spanning editing, writing and project management, and no two days are the same.

The Words-walle will work on the following:

Editing-

Lead on editing, sub-editing and proofreading all creative copy to an exceptional standard, making sure everything is fact-checked and consistent with Dishoom and Permit Room tones of voice.

Turn chef-written recipes into warm, accessible instructions for home cooks, ensuring accuracy and clarity throughout.

Oversee and manage all menu copy, coordinating seasonal updates, new dishes and approvals with meticulous attention to detail.

Copywriting-

Craft compelling, persuasive, emotive and high-quality copy for a variety of mediums, including emails, long and short-form website content, social captions and assets, products, events and print materials.

Collaborate with the Head of Creative, Senior Copywriter and wider teams to develop concepts, campaigns and storytelling.

Work across digital engagement projects, including harnessing the power of AI for copy, loyalty programmes, email journeys and SEO content.

Conduct research to uncover stories, histories and cultural nuances to enrich our content and identify opportunities to elevate and deepen the brand across all touchpoints.

Project Management-

Coordinate with copywriters, designers, marketers and cross-functional team, managing multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising on quality.

Identify areas where work can be streamlined and contribute to efficient working practices.

Support the Senior Copywriter in managing the copy team’s workloads.

Brief and work with freelancers as required.

You will shine in this role if you are:

An exceptional editor and writer with 5+ years’ experience in an editorial, publishing, agency or food-content environment – working on some outstanding brands, with a strong portfolio to show for it.

You have an ear for tone and you don’t need to rely on style guides, reading existing copy is enough to set you on the right track.

Brilliant with detail – accuracy and consistency are second nature to you.

Flexible, you’re a grammar wizard, but you’re comfortable ignoring rules and making up new ones to satisfy a tone of voice.

Confident at interrogating briefs and getting to the heart of what’s needed, thinking through guest touch points.

Coming with a strong understanding of SEO principles and digital marketing trends.

Experienced in editing recipes for homecooks.

Strong at project management and comfortable juggling competing priorities.

Able to craft narratives and stories that engage and persuade diverse audiences. Your writing is witty, charming, articulate and thoughtful.

Sparky, curious and culturally engaged, with a love of storytelling and an interest in South Asian culture. (You read a lot and are happy to dive into our in-house bookcases).

Confident with Mac, Google Suite, digital proofing tools and project management platforms, including Monday. If you can use InDesign, that’s a bonus.

A clear communicator who keeps stakeholders aligned and informed.

Some benefits you’d get joining us:

Joining our Healthcare cash plan (to help with expenses like dentists, opticians, physiotherapy and prescriptions).

Regular team events and a weekly team lunch get-together in Babu House.

A day off to attend the annual Family Mela and the Christmas Party.

Team discounts – 50% during the day, 25% in the evening in all of our Cafes and Permit rooms… and 25% from Dishoom at Home

An exciting role in a growing business where you can have a huge impact.

Plus, you’ll be in a team of super smart, supportive and ambitious people – all working to create something career-defining in terms of a place for our team to work.
