Hybrid – UAL High Holborn/Home

The opportunity

At UAL, we believe the world needs creativity. As a social purpose university, our mission is to nurture creative talent and deploy it to help solve the world’s problems. Our 10-year strategy, 'The world needs creativity', guides everything we do and reflects our commitment to making the world a better place through our collective creative endeavour.

In an ever-changing world, creativity drives us forward and shapes a better future for everyone. We believe in the power of creativity to find solutions to the world's biggest issues. That belief underpins the work of our in-house design agency, UAL Creative, where a team of multi-disciplinary designers develop campaigns, design systems, and digital products for teams and projects across the University. The Creative team has a vital role to play. We want to bring a high-quality education and experience to more students than ever before and give our students the education they need to flourish in a changing world.

We are now seeking a Junior Designer to join the team on a parental cover basis. Reporting to the Senior Designer and working closely with a group of 7 multi-disciplinary designers, you will support the Creative team through the design process from beginning to end, responding to a variety of briefs from across the organisation. This role would suit a team player who is a curious and proactive problem solver, who gets as excited by the big picture as by the smallest details.

This is a hybrid role, based at UAL’s High Holborn site, but is part of the wider communications community at UAL so will include occasional time spent at various other UAL sites as needed.

About you

As a highly creative and motivated team player, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of in-house, freelance or agency design roles, following and applying brand guidelines.
  • An understanding of design thinking methodologies and the creative application of graphic design, typography, colour and photography in a variety of projects, including multi-channel campaigns for digital and printing.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.

Additionally, you will have good organisational and planning skills to deliver projects on time and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You will also work collaboratively in a team as well as independently to support the collective delivery of projects.

Closing date: 14th August 2025, 09:00.
