What are we looking for?
We’re looking for an experienced and highly creative full-time Digital Design Director to work from our base in central Bath. You’ll lead the creative output for the agency, enhancing our reputation through the delivery of beautiful digital experiences for our clients,
You will have a wealth of experience delivering user-centric designs, working at the intersection of brand and digital. You’ll be equally at home talking with other designers and developers, and you’ll understand not just how to create something that looks amazing, but works beautifully too.
This is an opportunity to own the design direction of a small creative business, while working closely with the other Directors to help shape the future vision for the agency.
The ideal person will…
- Have 6+ years experience designing brand led, complex, interactive user interfaces for web

- Be a great communicator and presenter, love talking with clients, taking them with you on the journey through the project
- Thrive while working with other creatives, whether that’s in our team or in the agencies we partner with
- Have strong problem-solving skills and sound knowledge of UX processes and methodologies
- Be an excellent multi-tasker, and understand how to prioritise your schedule
- Have a way with words, and the power they can have in creating the best kinds of website
- Know how to make a final design file that developers will love
- Be expert in Figma, and (ideally) have skills in some motion graphics software
You will…
- Lead and manage our small creative team
- Have responsibility for the quality of Mud’s creative output, from client work to marketing materials
- Manage project kickoffs, distilling user needs, business needs and technical needs into visually compelling, high performing designs
- Create beautiful designs and elegant prototypes, using Figma and other motion prototyping tools where required
- Create visually engaging case studies
- Work with the MD on new business pitches, and work with the other Directors as part of the leadership team
- Work with the Project Managers to create solutions that fit within agreed budgets
- Understand how to run effective and efficient design QA
- Help grow Mud’s reputation and lead generation opportunities through social networking and actual networking

- Provide a sensible work / life balance - no mad Friday night deadlines here, we know a successful creative agency can be run on a normal 9-5:30 routine
