Job Summary

We are looking for someone to take on the hybrid role of managing our in-house design studio and taking on Design / Artwork briefs.

You will oversee, support and manage the delivery of design projects.

Managing and planning daily and weekly design resource, budgeting and scoping in an efficient and seamless way.

As well as managing and maintaining 3rd party relationships with recruiters, freelancers, printers etc.

You must understand all of the elements of the design process from end-to-end and have good experience using design programmes.

A competence in finance is required, as you will be meeting with our Head of Finance on a weekly basis to track the studio P+L.

A keen eye for detail and flare for problem solving is essential.

You will report into the Head of Production + Lead Designer.

Responsibilities

• Managing the day to day running of the design studio and managing all studio operations.

• Assessing, interrogating and clarifying client briefs and assigning the appropriate designers to each project.

• Ensuring the projects needs are clear to the design team so that the work meets the agreed brief.

• Planning weekly design resource following the agency workflow meeting, held on Thursday mornings.

• Understanding the design needs from each project and adequately allocating the correct amount of studio time.

• Managing printing of boards and materials for pitches and ensuring timely delivery.

• Ballparking design projects and pitches as accurately and efficiently as possible.

• Booking and confirming weekly freelance design resource where needed.

• Liaising with project leads and department heads to make resourcing decisions.

• Managing and keeping track of studio finances. Ensuring all project PO’s are raised and are tracked. Meeting with our Head of Finance on a weekly basis.

• Making sure we are working smart and not using unnecessary freelance resource.

• Championing design excellence, building a strong team culture in the studio, managing a range of freelancers and collaborators (e.g. designers, illustrators, printers etc) and optimising the studio’s profitability.

• Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors.

• Working closely with our Lead Designer to ensure the best quality of output all times.

• Finding new, streamlined ways of working and ensuring we are working effectively.

• Curating image libraries and video, art work and branding assets. Ensureing files are stored and named correctly and timesheets are completed effectively.

• Offering to support to Design + Production when working on pitches.

Requirements

• Passion and enthusiasm for the creative process and producing outstanding work.

• Experience working with an in-house design studio.

• Ability to artwork to spec

• Understanding of the printing and proofing process.

• Experience in managing design in a fast-paced environment.

• Financial fluency.

• Complete knowledge of agency processes.

• Excellent organization and communication skills.

• Knowledge of the industry’s legal rules and guidelines.

• A solid working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
