Job Description

ABOUT US

We are Nonsense - a creative studio dedicated to building brand credibility. We believe brands are too quick to make fantastical promises to win awareness and aren’t doing enough to keep those promises. We help in two ways - adjusting what brands promise to be inherently more credible, and/or helping them deliver campaigns that walk that walk, content that enhances the brand experience and customer experiences that really satisfy. We’re lucky to be doing this for Adobe, AXA, Sky, Monzo, Trimble and Cancer Research UK just to name a few.

We are fully independent and see ourselves as the arch-collaborators - taking pride in building mutually beneficial partnerships with other specialist companies. Our perm team is a core group of senior people who take full responsibility for delivering amazing solutions to our clients using our community model - by casting and empowering the ideal consultants and freelancers for every project. We enjoy what we do and who we do it with, and are looking to surround ourselves with tenacious people who care about doing the best work of their lives.

Usually based in Shoreditch, we are currently working remotely while making use of co-working spaces in East London. We are looking to secure new premises in the coming months to further support a hybrid remote + office model.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a talented and versatile Senior Designer to join our team. Working alongside our creative and content teams you will be responsible for driving our design and visual output forward, elevating our design work to new and exciting levels across all of our key accounts.

This is a hands-on, client-facing, conceptual design role. You will be leading the development and presentation of design deliverables at every stage of the project process in the integrated campaigns we create for our clients. You must be a fully integrated all-rounder who feels at home across digital, social and print, but who can also add value and design guidance across UX, motion and interactive/innovative formats. Experience in conceptual art direction is also a plus, enabling you to work more closely with our creative teams, in a more traditional copywriter/art director creative partnership to help conceive and sell in our more design-led concepts.

As an agency, we make daily use of an amazing community of freelance designers and creatives to provide us with infinite scale and diversity in our work. A key part of this role will be to art direct and oversee the work of designers and creatives in this network. This will involve working with our resourcing team to ensure that we are casting the right support and getting the most from this pool of talent, whilst also being the guardian of our design standards, agency processes and the brand guardian for our key client accounts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating outstanding design solutions for our clients
  • Representing design for the agency, both internally and in client presentations.
  • Brand guardianship on a range of key accounts
  • Working closely with the creative department to ensure we are presenting concepts that have the scope to be visually exceptional
  • Working closely with the motion department to ensure that visual excellence also extends through our video and animation work.
  • Enablement of our freelance community to thrive, maximising our potential to create best in class, creatively diverse work, with limitless scale.
  • Ensuring quality control and delivery within deadlines

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Exceptional design skills with immaculate attention to detail.
  • A conceptual thinker and visual problem solver.
  • Ability to clearly and articulately present design work both internally and client-facing
  • Full advanced professional knowledge of Adobe CC
  • Fully integrated. Experienced in a variety of media such as branding, digital, social and print.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of digital production and development processes. UX experience is a plus but not essential.
  • Experience of managing and overseeing the work of more junior designers and freelance collaborators.
  • Ability to work with other team and community members to ensure consistency of design across multiple media, eg video, animation, illustration, photography. Hands-on skills in any of these areas is a plus.
  • Solid organisation and time-management skills and the ability to act decisively and solve problems
  • 5+ years experience in a creative agency or similar professional environment.
  • A proactive ‘can-do’ attitude and a team player
