Job Description

About Next Rebel

We are a video agency with a keen focus on animation and motion graphics. We specialise in B2B tech stories for major brands and start-ups alike, always with a focus on disruptive technology and innovation. We help our clients to communicate their stories, campaigns and key messages through well planned, well executed pieces of content with a design-forward approach.

We are proud to be a fully remote company who welcome candidates from all over the UK.

Job Description

We are looking for a design-focused, super talented motion designer to join our team. The individual must have proven experience with motion design and animation, an extremely well-trained eye for design, real enthusiasm for the work, and a brilliant showreel to prove it.

This is predominantly a hands-on creative role with a client-facing edge to it, meaning the right candidate will also be comfortable joining pitches, explaining their ideas, and helping the team to win projects with exciting creative ideas and executions. We’re looking for a quick-thinking, passionate individual who is happiest when they’ve solving creative problems to put out work that will turn heads.

The role would be particularly suitable for someone who enjoys some variation in their life. While motion design definitely comes first, we’re a small team and there are opportunities to muck in with a wide variety of tasks, from business development brainstorming to marketing and pitch creation.

The most important deciding factor for this position is the quality of the work. Whether that's heaps of raw talent gained in just a few years... or a wealth of knowledge and skills gained over a long time in the industry: we want to hear from you.

The Role and Responsibilities

  • Create style frames and storyboard ideas to set the style of a project
  • Create high quality designs and illustrations ready for animation
  • Craft smooth flowing animated sequences
  • Put forward ideas for projects and pitches to assist the Creative Director in answering briefs and win projects
  • Research inspiration and collect references to assist with early creative development
  • Stay on top of trends and new techniques to bring fresh and current suggestions to the table
  • Be prepared to learn new skills to further enhance the business options and client experiences
  • Create content for multiple platforms to meet the scope of different briefs
  • Take ownership of deadlines, communicating with the team as necessary
  • Contribute and participate in experimental projects

The ideal person

Skills and experience

At least 4 years of experience as a motion designer

A strong background in design

A second-to-none eye for typography, layout, and latest trends

Strong vector illustration skills

Expert knowledge of Adobe CC, especially AE, AI and PS

Skilled at communicating the thinking/ideas behind your work

Experience interacting with clients

Highly developed animation skills and an excellent feel for smooth, effective keyframing

Natural conceptual thinker with a knack for planning storyboards

A skilled multi-tasker who knows how to stay organised and prioritise

Bonus skills

C4D

Experience with footage filmmaking/editing/shoots

Other non-vector illustration skills (e.g. cel animation)

The ability to design for non-motion formats (graphic design)

Excellent time management and communication skills are vital. We don’t ask people to take on more than they’re capable of but the right candidate must be able to communicate what is reasonable for them and make close estimations about how long they’ll need to complete tasks to a high standard.

What you’ll get

• Competitive salary DOE

• Flexible start/finish times

• 25 days holiday + public holidays

• The chance to shape the creative on a wide variety of briefs

• As many opportunities for ‘fun’ projects and skill development as possible (tutorials, studio projects, etc)

• Quality kit to work on

• A common-sense approach to downtime, life-admin, errands.

• A real chance to make your mark by joining us as a young, growing agency

We're a small but growing company with a single guiding principle: To make work we're proud of. The work you see on our website represents the work we make on a daily basis, meaning this isn't a churn-it-out design job working mostly on 'bread and butter' projects: it's a real chance to create great work every day.

While we're proud of being a remote company we don't underestimate importance of a good meet-up. We organise regular team catch ups and events, often in London (but potentially anywhere in the UK!).
