The Role
We’re looking for a Head of Content (fixed term maternity cover) to lead and oversee Creative Lives in Progress’ content team, delivering against annual targets and contributing to the team’s long term vision. You’ll work closely with the Head of Projects, Head of Events & Engagement and Head of US Growth to ensure effective cross team collaboration, team wellbeing, motivation, and effective project resourcing across the business. This role reports directly into the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
Business Responsibility:
- Lead and execute the content department strategy, managing the team, budget, and content output across the UK and US websites.
- Be a hands-on editor with a sharp eye for detail, keeping our content accurate, polished, and on-brand.
- Contribute to content creation where needed, bringing strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills to maintain a consistent and engaging voice.
- Oversee resource planning, recruitment, and the management of external collaborators.
- Report on department performance, targets and budget monthly, quarterly and annually to the Managing Director
- Understand and navigate business situations to achieve positive outcomes with clarity and confidence
- Develop new ideas or improve existing ones to solve department challenges to meet future goals and vision Key Skills
Leadership and Culture:
- Responsible for leading your department and the people within it
- Work alongside and collaborating brilliantly with the other head of departments, ensuring team wellbeing and morale
- Publicly represent the company and actively expand the network and awareness of the company, regularly meeting new contacts and setting up partnerships where appropriate
- Develop and nurture client relationships
Management:
- Responsible for overseeing two direct reports and ensuring that each can operate effectively
- Run regular meetings/reporting with direct reports to ensure output is being delivered at an appropriate quality and on time
- Input into policies and procedures via the Managing Director and other department heads
Key Details
- Salary: £48,000 (£38,400 pro-rata)
- Contract: Fixed Term Maternity Cover (10 months) and Part-Time
- Hours: Part-time 4 days a week, Monday to Thursday (but we're happy to explore flexibility regarding specific days for the right person) | 9am to 5.30pm
- Location: Hybrid - 2 days based in our London studio on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the rest of the week at home
- Seniority Level: Head of
- Reports to: Managing Director
