Job Description

Mach49 is the Growth Incubator for Global Businesses. We’re 100% focused on startup creation and execution. We see ourselves as co-founders, working side by side with our clients to bring their new ventures to life.

At Mach49, design and storytelling are at the heart of our venture-building approach. Our Storyteller / Designers are experts in narrative, emotion and visualisation, and help our teams bring their venture’s progress to life. We’re expanding our EMEA team, so if you are a creative problem solver with an eye for clean and artful design, outstanding storytelling skills and an understanding of human-centred design, we’re keen to talk.

Why work with us?

Mach49 is a diverse team of hands-on serial entrepreneurs, VCs, startup board members, Global 1000 CEOs and senior executives, and public company board members. We’ve created many successful startups and launched numerous new ventures for global businesses.

We exist inspire and empower leaders of global businesses to build, launch, and invest in ventures that drive sustainable, disruptive growth — for their companies, for their people, for their communities, and for the world. We do that in a way that builds their internal capability, capacity, and culture to solve some of the world’s biggest problems.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

You will facilitate workshops that train and prepare our client new venture teams to develop compelling story lines and narratives that describe their start-up journeys, while communicating boldly and clearly. You’ll capture those storylines in engaging and beautiful presentations that support the teams’ interactions and pitches with their executives. Working with others in Mach49, you will establish and promote design guidelines, templates, style guides, pattern libraries and/or design specs for our venture teams’ pitches.

When you’re not designing pixel-perfect presentations, you’ll contribute to the venture’s progress through activities like interviewing, note taking and synthesising results, and assist in the creation of visual stimulus and prototypes that enable the team to test their solutions with potential customers.

Your experience

You will have a degree from an accredited university or college in Design and / or User Experience, or equivalent training/work experience.

You will have proven experience as a visual or brand designer, graphic designer or similar role, and will bring an interest in startups and an entrepreneurial mindset.

You will bring exceptional skills in storytelling and presentation design, and be able to translate complex information, strategic concepts and ideas into compelling visual representations.

You will have fluency in the following design programs:

– Keynote

– Adobe Creative Cloud

– PowerPoint / Google Slides

– Miro

You will be an outstanding communicator, in both written and oral formats.

You will have a good understanding of wireframing and prototyping tools (eg. Sketch, Balsamiq, Invision, Figma) so that you can assist with this work when needed.
