THE ROLE

Want to see your designs worn by millions? As a Designer at ASOS, you’ll be plugged into 20-something culture and on the pulse of the latest fashion and trends that our customers love. You’ll need to be a creative, commercial Designer who works collaboratively with Buying and other Retail teams to create exciting, fashion-forward product for our customers, globally.

The Design Team look for inspiration all around the world, along with street style, vintage shopping, music, art, the catwalk and all things creative, to design the latest product for the range. It’s all about newness and finding and designing the most exciting product for our 20-something customer, whatever their style.

Job Description

You’ll be…

  • Researching, developing, and designing across going out dresses category, including identifying key shapes for the season, selecting fabrics, and building a range for the ASOS customer.
  • Designing concepts for embellishment and embroidery artwork briefs.
  • Presenting trend research to Buying and other teams, where relevant
  • Using relevant sales data and insights to design commercially-relevant, fashion forward ranges
  • Sourcing new fabrications, techniques and trimmings.
  • Working closely with in-house Buying teams – collaborating to create fresh product, each season
  • Working with the Technical team on fits on a weekly basis, identifying and helping create new silhouette blocks for the department
  • Building relationships with suppliers and advising factories on direction, silhouette, construction, key details, fabrics, trimmings and artwork.
  • Collaborative team player working across multi functions pattern cutters artworkers and assistant designers.

Qualifications

We’d love to meet, someone with…

  • Previous going out dress design experience within an aspirational brand or high street Retailer
  • 6 month temporary contract
  • Previous experience of direct sourcing from fabric mills, with knowledge of cut and construction
  • A strong commercial handwriting and understanding of the ASOS Brand and Customer
  • Experience with Photoshop, Adobe, CAD
  • Comfortable travelling in the UK and internationally for supplier/product development meetings and inspirational purposes
  • Plugged into 20-something culture and fashion, passionate about the product
  • Strong organisation skills and able to use their initiative and to work in a high-pressured environment
  • The ability to build great relationships with colleagues across the business and suppliers alike
