We are looking for a Service Designer who can do and teach. Someone who enjoys hands-on service & experience design, working on socially relevant innovation projects for a wide range of sectors, plus upskilling leading companies and organisations in Design Thinking and innovation.

Title: Learning Designer

Reporting to: Design Director

1. What you will be doing

1.1 Executive Education – 80%

• Delivering courses as a Coach and facilitator both online and in-person

• Coaching design delivery projects with clients to support implementation

• Co-create new courses and content with our faculty of Coaches including developing and adopting new material and methods.

• Take a lead-role on studio design knowledge management, so that our consultancy and training practices are informed by each other and follow a shared best practice.

• Curate and host our Coaches’ Salon, a regular faculty event, for promoting networking, knowledge-sharing and inspiration.

1.2 Design Consultancy – 20%

• Managing your own service design and innovation projects, including resources, time, and budgets.

• Managing designers, researchers and other specialists on complex design projects

• Contributing to studio design projects on: ethnographic research, co-creation sessions, concept development, prototyping and concept validation.

• Designing and delivering in-company Design Sprints and on-project workshop sessions, online and in-person.

• Developing strong client relationships

• Keeping up with latest innovation methodologies, best practices, and frameworks, advancing best practice and thinking in innovation,

• Contributing directly to DK&A and Design Thinkers Academy London strategy.

2. Skills & experience

2.1 Essential

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in design thinking, industrial design, service design, experience design, anthropology, or other related studies, or proven experience and knowledge relevant to the role, demonstrated through the portfolio;

• Proven ability to shape design briefs with clients;

• Experience in delivering innovation projects for clients (5+ years);

• Experience in designing and facilitating training workshops (in-person and online), to teach Design Thinking and innovation skills (5+ years);

• Experience in designing and facilitating on-project workshops (in-person and online) with clients, to develop impactful solutions for commercial projects (5+ years);

• Excellent written and spoken English skills;

• Confidence to lead meetings and workshops with senior and C-suite stakeholders;

• Ability to design and facilitate in Miro/Mural or equivalent visual collaboration platform.

2.2 Desirable

• Knowledge and interest on innovation methodologies and frameworks (e.g. Systems Thinking, Agile, Lean Start Up, etc);

• Interest in sustainability and circular design;

• Interest in designing for social impact.

3. Remuneration & benefits

This is a full-time role with an annual salary based on experience. Benefits include:

• Flexitime core studio hours 10:00 – 16:00 Monday – Friday

• 37.5-hour work week

• Hybrid work: 3 days in studio, 2 days remote

• 25 days of paid annual leave

• 8 days of paid Bank Holidays

• 2 weeks of remote working per year

• The studio closes between Christmas and New Year, and these days are additional paid leave, on top of the 25 days annual leave and 8 Bank holidays

4. Location

Currently we have Hybrid work, allowing you to work remotely for 2 days per week. Three days per week you will be working with the rest of the team at our studio in London SW18 5JS, United Kingdom. The space is attractive with facilities including a shower, bike parking, meeting rooms and communal kitchen.
