We are looking for a senior animator with several years of experience who is comfortable animating characters and objects in a variety of styles. Candidates should also be able to compose shots and animate cameras in support of the story.

Senior animator will be responsible for bringing life to our characters and defining the look and behavior of their characters. They should be able to work independently with minimal support from peers, developing strong skills in body movement and facial animation.

What you’ll do

  • Create compelling character performances that are well acted and mechanically sound

  • Work in a variety of animation styles (cartoony, realistic, etc.)
  • Compose and pre-visualize shots to effectively tell a story
  • Tackle the most demanding shots on a project
  • Provide feedback on character rigs to the Rigging Team
  • Troubleshoot animation scene files
  • Explore visual solutions to solve challenging client briefs
  • Manage your workload to consistently meet deadlines
  • Work in an organized manner respecting established workflows to allow for inter-department collaboration

You have

  • 4+ years professional experience working as an animator in commercials and/or feature films
  • Complete understanding of the principles of animation and the mechanics of movement
  • In-depth knowledge of Autodesk Maya’s animation toolset and workflow
  • Ability and willingness to learn new techniques and plugins
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Patient and focused temperament under pressure
  • Receptive to feedback and direction
  • Ability to work independently with minimal support
  • Capable of mentoring junior staff

Nice to have

  • Experience, in particular the ability to build an effective sequence of shots to tell a clear and concise story
  • Thorough understanding of camera lensing -- when to use which lens for which shot
  • Compositional skills -- the ability to scout a CG scene and find the best way to stage a shot
  • Maya generalist skills (modeling, texturing, rigging, lighting)
  • Knowledge of Adobe After Effects or Premiere
  • Drawing skills (in particular, thumb nailing, storyboarding, and even cel animation), while not required or necessary to perform the job, are always helpful for planning and communication)
