Job Description

About Square in the Air

Square in the Air is an award-winning, full-service marketing agency specialising in the sports, gaming and betting sectors. Our team of 50+ includes eight talented designers, and over the past 2–3 years, we’ve added web development to our offering.

As demand continues to grow, we’re looking to expand our development capabilities with the addition of a web developer who can support both client projects and the maintenance and evolution of our own platforms.

About You

You're a motivated and detail-oriented developer with a passion for clean code, creativity, and collaboration. You bring technical expertise to the table, but also thrive in a team environment and enjoy pushing boundaries with innovative solutions. You’re proactive, and always eager to learn, adapt, and contribute to a variety of digital projects.

The Role

You'll be responsible for helping shape and deliver high-quality websites and landing pages across our client base and internal initiatives. This role requires a balance of technical execution and independent ownership.

  • Collaborating with designers to bring visual concepts to life using brand guidelines
  • Working independently, particularly during remote days, to meet project milestones
  • Proactively contributing ideas to enhance client sites and our own digital presence
  • Supporting the design team with development-related queries and quick turnarounds
  • Participating in brainstorms and cross-functional discussions
  • Prioritising and organising tasks to meet deadlines

Essential Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Basic understanding of UX/UI principles
  • Experience working with responsive design and development

Great to have:

  • Comfortable using Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe XD
  • Familiarity with SCSS and jQuery
  • Experience in Wordpress theme development with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
  • Knowledge of MAMP (or similar local dev environments)
  • Experience communicating directly with clients
  • Knowledge of MySQL and phpMyAdmin
  • Exposure to modern no-code/low-code platforms (e.g. StoryBlok, Webflow, Framer)
  • Familiarity with GitHub for collaboration
  • Understanding of website security best practices
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs
  • Knowledge of domains, DNS, and website hosting
  • Familiarity with Google Search Console and Google Analytics
  • An interest in or understanding of sports, betting, or gaming industries

Reports to: Mid-weight Developer

Overseen by: Creative Director

Hybrid role: London (2x weekly) We operate a hybrid working model with two mandatory in-office days per week at our London location. Therefore, applicants must be based within a commutable distance — this is non-negotiable.
