Job Description

ABOUT US

Not Actual Size is a collective of creatives and strategists who build respect for brands. We are an independent, employee-owned B Corp, working in partnership with Global brands such as Dove, Sure/Rexona, and Roche.

Our services cover the creative spectrum – from truly social-first content creation to turning unseen insights into campaign ideas. We also never forget the beautiful basics and take pride in crafting product pages or lifestyle shots that truly resonate – for us, every detail matters. Our strategy team works closely with our creative team and client partners, providing data, insights and reporting to influence decisions and boost innovation.

Our approach to work and culture is based on Radical Respect. It is our rebellion against the noise of an ultra-connected world and it means we give obsessive attention to every quietly significant detail in order to boost relevance for our clients, people and society.

Our team has been continually growing and we’re looking for big thinkers, dot joiners and meaning makers to join us – we have big plans for the future and are looking for an ambitious, proactive and experienced Art Director to help us go to the next level.

ABOUT YOU

A talented mid-weight Art Director with a minimum of 3 years experience. You’ll already have experience working at an agency and working collaboratively with creative teams. You are curious and passionate, interested in the world around you, emerging trends and technologies and abreast of industry trends.

You are able to translate brand strategies into compelling visual stories that resonate with their audiences. You’ll know how to: master a broad range of BVIs; Art Direct for specific target audiences; create compelling digital content and campaigns that stop people in their tracks. You’ll be able to art direct everything from a moving social video to a high quality static campaign image. You’ll need to be confident in sharing your knowledge and skills with clients and the wider team whilst being an advocate for pushing creative boundaries.

You’ll work with a growing team of 6+ designers, and will mentor junior team members on Art Direction to develop their skills – and assist you in your work. You’ll have a passion for working with people and a desire to manage and collaborate with a team of enthusiastic designers, strategists, producers and content managers.

You:

  • Are a naturally talented mid-weight Art Director, known for consistently delivering work to a high standard
  • Have a minimum 3 years experience, ideally at an agency or in-house for a brand creating consistently high quality content
  • Have a solid portfolio with a range of case studies across different media, that you’ll be confident in sharing and presenting
  • Are passionate about doing a good job for your clients and going the extra mile to bring ideas to life
  • Have an inherent interest in the beauty and personal care industries, and are skilled at scoping out trends and insights
  • Have a passion for technological innovation and how these should inform client briefs
  • Have advanced knowledge of Adobe Suite, and in particular an ability to work in After Effects (If you can work in Figma, that’s a bonus!)
  • Have a solid understanding of a broad range of social and digital channels to create content that considers and meets these requirements, as well as pushes boundaries
  • Are a professional and calm communicator on production sets with clients and creatives, who is confident providing art direction on set for both still and motion shoots
  • Are a natural team player, willing to lead while valuing openness and collaboration with all team members
  • Are able to develop strong relationships with new/potential clients, confidently driving conversations around design quality and constructively challenging briefs and feedback
  • Are able to work quickly and calmly to meet all deadlines, juggling multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to dispense design advice along the way to clients and team members
  • Are a direct and clear communicator – whether updating a client, presenting ideas or briefing internal teams
  • Are extremely organised, with impeccable attention to detail and an ability to maintain high standards during bursts of activity

  • Open: We have a candid approach in how we see problems and discuss solutions. We are transparent and accountable
  • Care: We care about what we do and the impact we have. From delivering the best work to making sure our work is ethical and responsible

We’re proud to offer a range of benefits that help our team thrive personally and professionally.

Alongside 33 days holiday, private health insurance, pension plans, enhanced sick pay, and team lunches and social events, we provide bespoke training packages and weekly cultural listening sessions to fully immerse all employees in the wider industry.

We also offer flexible hybrid working options. Most team members work from our (quite wonderful) office twice a week, but we are happy to discuss what works best for you.

We are a diverse team of creatives, strategists and content managers, and we highly encourage people from all backgrounds to apply. We embrace diversity and believe an inclusive, equitable environment is the key to crafting truly meaningful work.
