WHO WE ARE

Based in East London, we’re a small team of multidisciplinary designers that create spatial phenomena from concept to construction. We work across spatial design, from still life shoots to full scale installation and exhibition design. The studio consists of a mix of full-time and freelance creatives, from a variety of different disciplines all offering unique skills. Ranging from 3D designers and set builders, through to model-makers, set assistants and technicians. Our Clients include: Adidas, Net-a-Poter, Vogue, Joseph, Selfridges, Harris Reed.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We’re looking for an experienced, organised and highly motivated individual, who is able to cope with varied responsibilities and thrives on working in a high-pressured, creative environment. You will often communicate directly to clients, taking on the management of all projects as well as helping with the day-to-day running of the studio and supporting the overall creative vision.

THE ROLE WILL INVOLVE

  • Managing, running and staying on top of the maintenance, organisation and tidiness of the workshop and studio.
  • Managing a project from concept to completion.
  • Prop sourcing and making.
  • Research and concept development
  • Designing and drawing up of sets up on SketchUp.
  • Putting together creative decks for clients and working collaboratively with them throughout a project, listening carefully and facilitating any changes or requests.
  • Costing up projects and managing budgets.
  • Basic bookkeeping and keeping track of VAT invoices.
  • Management of studio’s petty cash.
  • Website and social media updates.
  • Chasing and collating shoot images upon release.
  • Basic set build and sewing in our workshop.
  • Liaising with all suppliers, set builders and couriers to ensure projects are on track and finished on time and within budget.
  • Managing freelancers when required.
  • Ensuring health and safety, fire safety and first aid in the workshop, studio and whilst on set.
  • Writing risk assessments for shoots and installations.

ESSENTIAL & DESIRED SKILLS

  • Minimum 3 years experience in set design or similar field.
  • Ability to use Sketch Up and the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) Mac literate.
  • Extensive knowledge of London prop houses.
  • A good understanding of set build materials and fabrication processes.
  • Basic set build abilities (preferable).
  • Ability to install a set for a photoshoot (laying floors, putting up flats, hanging backdrops, set decoration).
  • Ability to both manage and lead a team, whilst in the workshop and on set.
  • A personable and confident approach on set.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients, staff and suppliers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and great attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic and resourceful nature, with excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a high pressure environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed whilst juggling multiple projects at one time.
  • Excellent organisation skills and time management.
  • An active interest in the art and design world.
  • UK Driving Licence (preferable but not necessary).
