About us

www.studiomoross.com

Studio Moross is an 11+ person design studio based in Shoreditch, East London. The current team is 2 Motion Designers, 3 Graphic Designers, 3 Project Managers, a Creative Director, Studio manager and Personal Assistant. We work predominantly in music, gaming, TV, and live, with a strong focus on branding and art direction.

The well-being of our staff is just as important to us as the work we produce. We recognise that the creative industry is notorious for being a stressful environment with long, unsociable hours – often resulting in unhealthy office culture. So we implement more efficient working days, leading to increased productivity and an all-around happier team. Any work outside of regular office hours is paid, in addition to the base salary.

We are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you are excited about this role but do not meet every qualification listed, we still encourage you to apply.

Job Role

We are looking for a Senior Designer to join the team at Studio Moross to help provide cover whilst a member of the team is on new parent leave. We hope to find someone with 5 or more years experience (permanent or freelance).

You will work closely with the Creative Director to guide the design direction of projects and also have the opportunity to lead projects independently.

You will oversee the design team, ensuring all work meets the highest standards and providing feedback and guidance for more junior team members. Your time will be split between designing and leading on projects.

You will primarily work on branding and campaign development across a variety of sectors. Answering creative briefs will span moodboarding and concepts through to development and delivery, problem-solving where necessary. Although our work is mostly digital we still work in print so an understanding of print process and production is important.

Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite will be essential, we work more in Photoshop than Illustrator in recent years. You might also contribute to motion projects for which a basic understanding of After Effects and how to prepare files for motion will be useful.

Experience in creative pitches, and art direction are also very useful.

This job will bring exciting opportunities to develop your creativity and then implement it in a collaborative environment with the support of the rest of the team. Seeing a project from start to finish, and then published on TV or on a stage is a huge part of the job.

Software

Excellent skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. We often work in Google Slides for presentations.

Tasks

Designing and writing pitches and treatments with the team

Leading and contributing to the early creative process, ideation and direction

Collaboration with the internal team, external freelancers and other partners

Communication and meeting with clients to relay ideas, collect and respond to feedback

Working with internal team and our extended team of freelancers giving feedback, delegating and contributing to all projects

Clients

Riot Games, Kylie, MTV, Spice Girls, VMAs, Disclosure, Sam Smith, Parklife, Netflix, Nike, Nickelodeon, Uniqlo, Billie Eilish, H.E.R, London Grammar, The BFI, Spotify, Defected Records, Roundhouse, Design Museum and many more.

How We Work

We work quickly and often manage multiple projects at once so you will need to be comfortable multitasking. At Studio Moross our projects have shorter, faster lead times so we often see projects through from start to finish. Our working process is collaborative and we often work as a team to complete projects. With TV, Music and gaming clients our turn-arounds are often quick but give us a lot of creative freedom in our work.

What We Don’t Do!

We don’t work with many big corporate brands, so we don’t get weighed down with mammoth projects. This does mean that we are sometimes limited by our budgets, and don’t have the luxury of lots of research and development – our ideation is quick and relies on the confidence and creativity of our team members. We turn around work quickly – so we don’t get time to be super precious, the plus side to that is you will see work out in the world and so will your peers, and that is a very rewarding part of the job. With that said, we are meticulous and ensure excellent attention to detail in all our work.

Diversity & Inclusion

Studio Moross is a queer and trans led company. As a team we work hard to be a place that celebrates and champions people’s individuality, where opportunities for development and progress are available to all and everyone’s talents can be utilized and celebrated.

We aim to create a welcoming place, with an atmosphere of friendship for all people, ensuring we respect, support and care for each other and the people we work with.

We want to challenge all forms of oppression including those based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, creed, gender expression, gender reassignment, sex, class, sexuality, learning ability, physical impairment, mental illness, neurodiversity, HIV status, age, occupation, income, wealth, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and parenthood, and unrelated criminal conviction.

We are committed to providing equal opportunities in employment. In addition to this we aim to design our activities, services, and decision-making processes specifically to encourage and support participation from people who face a disadvantage in society.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do to accommodate you in the recruitment or interview process.

Accessibility

Studio Moross is located on the ground floor. Directly from the pavement there are four steps up to the front door, and from the rear courtyard entrance there are concrete access ramps leading to the back doors. There is one step down into the studio space, with a collapsible metal ramp. Unfortunately, we do not have an accessible restroom, but it has a wide-set door to improve access. All our restrooms are gender neutral. Our detailed Accessibility Plan is available to read here.
