Job Title: Studio Manager

Salary: £40,809 - £49,818 per annum

Location: South Kensington Campus

Job Summary

The Design and Editorial team provide creative services and expertise to internal stakeholders across the College by providing best-in-class creative work, strategy and communications to the whole College. The team consists of designers, editor/copywriters and the College photographer, all working across a wide range of projects including key print publications such as prospectus and the annual report, major College events such as Graduation and Great Exhibition Road Festival, digital and social media assets, wayfinding and placemaking, our flagship alumni magazine, as well as being owners of the College visual and written brand and tone of voice.

The Studio Manager is a new role and will be responsible for the planning and delivery of creative projects, overseeing the team’s resources and budgets to ensure they can produce engaging and effective work that answers the client brief in the most efficient manner possible. The team undertook more than 350 significant projects in 2020/21, managing a combined budget of over £500,000 and the Studio Manager, working closely alongside the Head and Deputy Head of Design and Editorial, will play a key role in running the team and its workload efficiently and effectively.

Duties and responsibilities

You will work with all members of the team to determine the precise requirements for timings and budgets, resource and trafficking of creative projects across the team. You will provide regular updates to the Head and Deputy Head of Design and Editorial and other members of the team regarding the status of projects and capacity, and will keep the team’s workflow planner up to date.

The role includes resource management, production, finance and administration duties, as well as being required to schedule briefing meetings and will also be the first point of contact on all resource/traffic issues. You will also be required to directly project manage a number of projects in collaboration with team members, including specialist freelancers and agencies, and will be responsible for a number of software platforms used by the team including workflow management tools, College image library and brand management platform. You will be a key in defining and setting up new ways of working for the team and establishing best practices.

You will collaborate with the whole team to ensure the best possible results for our internal stakeholders by creating engaging and effective solutions that answer the brief and communicate the project message to the desired audience.

Essential requirements

You will ensure that there is consistency across systems and a single point of planning, control, and reporting. They will be responsible for the management of all creative and production assets, approval processes, task management, costs, and reporting.

You will also be responsible for planning and workflow support, creative support, studio communication and administration and finance.
