Job Description

Do you like creating content for the small screen and then sharing it with the world? If yes, then this could be the role for you.

We are looking for a videographer and editor who can cover events, brand shoots and social media shoots to come in and create some amazing content with us.

Before we get into the specifics, let me tell you a bit about what we do and who we work with.

Grid Studios is a production company and photography studio based in Old Street, London. The production side has been running for nearly six years and is best known for creating social content for well-known brands such as Wella and Lucozade. While we still create content across various sectors, we specialise in hair and beauty, with professional haircare being where we have made a real name for ourselves. We love making hair content so much that we have actually built a studio specifically designed to capture this content perfectly. Our studio has been open for around 11 months and is an industry-first with regard to how it is set up. We have six styling stations, a backwash, you can get cameras around and over 1000 sqft of shoot space. Everything is lit by our custom-designed lighting system, which is perfectly colour-balanced no matter where you are in the space. While we do create a lot of hair content, we have lots of other clients as well. We have recently partnered with one of London’s top experiential agencies to cover events, pop-ups and festivals. We take photos, shoot videos and create wrap-up films to show just how well these events go. As the industry leans towards experiential advertising over traditional forms such as print and TV, we see an opportunity to develop best-in-class content for covering these events. And we want you to be part of this.

Your role

You will be our main videographer. You will shoot events and accompany us on brand shoots. You will also be in the studio day-to-day, creating content and working with our hairdressers. Once all the content is captured, it will be your job to edit it and make it into a cohesive piece of storytelling that the brands we work with will love.

Your objectives

  • To push our content creation beyond what is expected and create films you are proud of
  • Help us grow the event content capture side of the business
  • Help us win new clients.
  • Come up with creative ideas when it comes to the direction of how we make films.

Your responsibilities

The role will grow and develop as you do. We want you to enjoy your work and find it rewarding. Below is a list of responsibilities that will be expected at the start.

  • Content creation: You will be responsible for filming events, shoots, and in-studio footage. A good knowledge of how to use Canon camera systems and experience capturing sound properly are bonuses.
  • Editing: Editing and colour grading the footage you have captured, ideally using Davinci and the Adobe suite.
  • Equipment management: You will be in charge of making sure our cameras and lighting, etc, are properly taken care of.
  • Creative development: You will be part of the team that writes treatments and comes up with ideas for shoots.

Nice to haves

Below is a list of nice-to-haves. They will not be expected in your role, but if they are areas you want to be involved in, we can let you explore the options.

  • Photography. It would be great if you also wanted to shoot photos.
  • Motion design. This goes hand in hand with editing, so any experience here is great.
  • Sound design.

Your expertise

  • 4+ years as a videographer - Canon, Sony, RED or similar
  • 4+ years working in editing - Premiere Pro or Davinci, and After Effects
  • Content creation: In-depth knowledge of the Adobe suite
  • Project management and creative execution: Proven ability to create and execute a creative shoot based on a client's brief.
  • Trends: A great eye for new trends, both visually and socially.

Compensation and information

Full-time contract of 40 hours per week with some weekend work.

£33 - £40k per year, depending on experience.

30 days of annual leave.

Gym membership.

Hybrid working - minimum 3 days in the office over the week. You will be based at our studio in Old Street, London, EC1V 9HX.

Please note this job is London-based, as there are a lot of the shoots, so we are only looking at applications from the UK at this time.
