Job Description

We are currently seeking a talented and versatile Mid-weight Signage Designer to join in London.

The ideal candidate should have a background in product design, interior design, or architecture, with experience or a strong interest in visual communication, and typography. Familiarity with branding or identity programs is highly desirable, as many of our projects involve signage as an integral part of holistic design concepts, including wayfinding and environmental design.

As a member of Sascha Lobe’s team, you will have the opportunity to create visually impactful and effective signage solutions that align with branding and identity programs, contributing to comprehensive design experiences for a range of projects in diverse settings such as retail spaces, office environments, public facilities, and more.

Job description

1. Design Concept Development: Collaborate with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to understand their signage requirements and develop creative design concepts that align with their brand identity, visual communication goals, and project objectives.

2. Signage Design: Create comprehensive signage designs that integrate typography, graphics, materials, colors, and finishes to ensure clear and effective communication, readability, and aesthetic appeal.

3. Technical Detailing: Develop detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for fabrication and installation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards, building codes, and regulations.

4. Material and Supplier Selection: Research and recommend appropriate materials, finishes, and manufacturing techniques suitable for signage production. Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain quotes, samples, and oversee production processes.

5. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, interior designers, graphic designers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of signage within the overall design scheme. Effectively communicate design concepts and ideas to stakeholders and clients.

6. Project Management: Manage multiple signage projects concurrently, including timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and installation teams to ensure successful project execution.

7. Quality Control: Conduct thorough reviews of signage prototypes, samples, and installations to ensure adherence to design intent, quality standards, and client expectations.

8. Industry Trends and Research: Stay updated on current trends, innovations, and best practices in signage design, materials, technology, and sustainability. Apply knowledge to continuously improve design processes and deliver innovative solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in product design, interior design, architecture, or a related field.

3+ years of professional experience in signage design or related design disciplines.

Strong knowledge of typography, visual hierarchy, and graphic design principles.

Familiarity with fabrication techniques, materials, and production processes relevant to

signage design.

Proficient in industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Cinema 4D, Adobe After Effects).

Knowledge of 3D printing technology and the ability to prepare 3D models for printing.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently manage projects.

Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced and fast-moving environment.

Aptitude to simultaneously handle multiple projects.

Experience working on large scale projects with commercial and corporate clients.

Attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet project deadlines.

Portfolio demonstrating a range of successful signage design projects.
