Robert Stephenson Handmade Carpets is looking for a Sales Assistant to join the busy team in their well-known Chelsea showroom.
This remarkably varied and rewarding role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-moving exclusive retail business, and to learn the history of traditional handmade carpets and about contemporary carpet design. The clientele includes high-end customers and many of the world’s top interior designers. Stock ranges from fine antique carpets to custom-made contemporary pieces.
Working closely with owner Robert Stephenson and manager Giuseppe Giannini, the successful team-player will assist in the day-to-day running of all aspects of the showroom. This will include presenting stock to customers, responding to email enquiries, adapting and developing carpet designs, managing photography of the stock, editing images, updating the website, increasing the company’s social media presence and developing marketing initiatives, and showing stock in customer’s homes.
The ideal candidate will be adaptable, organised, reliable, efficient and punctual and will have:
· Good written English
· Good numeracy
· The strength to lift and carry heavy carpets
· A full clean driving licence
· A friendly disposition and be a natural communicator
· The ability to remain calm and work efficiently under pressure
· Excellent IT skills, particularly Outlook and Excel
· Good administrative skills and the ability to multi-task
· A good understanding of and interest in social media
Other desirable skills include:
· Photoshop and Dropbox
· Experience in a retail environment
· An interest in and appreciation for decor and interior design
· A good sense of colour
Contract type: Full time (5 days a week, including some Saturdays). Salary £25K to £30K (depending on experience). 28 days holiday (including public holidays)
Showroom opening hours are Monday – Friday, 9.30am – 5.30pm, Saturday 10am – 5pm
Start date: ASAP
