Job Description

We’re looking for a creative and talented graphic designer to join our team. This individual will be able to create highly engaging content for different audiences to get them excited about our brand and to take action with us. If this sounds good to you, keep scrolling…

What you’ll be doing

This role is perfect for a versatile creative who can work their magic across both digital and print. It’s a diverse role, where you’ll be creating effective work that, gives a voice to the people we help, reaches people who need us, and gets audiences excited about supporting us.

You’ll work closely with the rest of our award-winning in-house content team, as well as the wider comms team, to produce outstanding design and artwork for our whole organisation. We love to come together to create effective, forward-thinking work and we’re passionate about what we do.

*This exciting role offers flexible working between home and our London head office in Moorgate.

In a nutshell, you’ll be:

  • Producing high-quality design work for our campaigns, delivering across a wide range of formats, channels and platforms.
  • Using all your creative skills and then some to interpret briefs and find creative solutions, meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Working closely with the rest of the team and clients within the organisation to create strong and dynamic content from conception to production.
  • Taking an active role on projects that cover everything the British Red Cross works on, which is a lot!
  • Artworking and amending existing concepts and designs.
  • Acting as a guardian of the brand to uphold our strong visual identity.
  • Working to make a difference for people in crisis in the UK and around the world.

This role might be for you if…

You’re a graphic designer with a portfolio that demonstrates a wide range of skills, who enjoys collaboration and creative problem solving, and is keen to get stuck in. We’ll be relying on your design skills and keen eye for detail, and we’d also love to work with someone who isn’t afraid to bring fresh ideas to the table.

Your excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Mac OS and strong understanding and experience in current graphic design practices and production will help you confidently slot into our team. Ideally, you’re a bit of an all-rounder, able to work with static and motion. Illustration skills would be a bonus.

You’ll bring and build on your previous experience and excellent design skills from the industry, either in-house or agency, ideally gained through working with NGO or non-profit clients. You’ll have at least three years of experience and you’ll be no stranger to a thriving as part of a busy (and brilliant) content team. We know that not everyone has the same access to career opportunities though, so we’d still love to receive your application if you have the relevant skills and passion.

We’re after a brilliant communicator who can collaborate directly with stakeholders, action feedback, and come up with creative solutions to get the best possible outcome, a proactive, resourceful, and flexible hard-worker, who can jump from one priority to another, and someone who’s kind, with a positive attitude, and has a genuine passion to create work to make a difference.

Meet the team

Reporting to the creative design manager, you’ll join our talented in-house creative content team, within our strategy and communications directorate.

Every person in the team has something valuable to offer, no matter who they are. We maximise each other’s skillsets, insight, and links with stakeholders across the wider organisation, to create successful content that meets business objectives. We respond to the internal briefs focussing on areas where our team can make the greatest impact. This means we don’t just churn out assets; we take pride in our work, knowing that it has a real purpose.

We’re made up of fellow designers, copywriters, multimedia and photo producers, story gatherers, and production pros. You’re not alone in the content team – there’s always someone who’ll bounce ideas around with you and offer up support in responding to briefs if you need it. (We were also named the in-house creative team of the year in 2021 at the Inside Out awards, in case you missed it…)

We offer a wide range of staff benefits, these include:

  • 36 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
  • Option to buy an extra 5 days annual leave
  • Up to 6% contributory pension
  • Flexible working policy
  • Genuine investment in your training and personal development
