Unreal Engine Designer
Job Description
We’re looking for a creative and versatile individual to work on Unreal Engine lead real-time projects for some major upcoming jobs. This role would be to work full time with our real-time and interactive team. We are interested in hearing from designers and developers at different levels of experience, from recent graduates to more experienced game designers looking to move into broadcast and live events.
ABOUT POTION PICTURES
Potion Pictures is an award-winning and BAFTA nominated visual design company specialising in broadcast, theatre and live events. Recent projects include designing all the show graphics and live augmented reality for Strictly Come Dancing, designing performance and screen content for The Masked Singer, the logo design for Netflix’s Sexy Beasts and designing all the show graphics and branding for Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel.
We put special emphasis on skill development, peer to peer learning and our overall goal to create outstanding visual design. We increasingly work with Unreal Engine for content, which requires a level of interactivity and programming, such as quiz formats and live performance.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our ideal candidate would have a showreel demonstrating experience of using Unreal Engine to create impressive visuals. In particular we’re looking for someone interested and practiced in real-time workflows, who has an ambition to work to a very high standard and has a positive attitude towards learning on the job.
You should be fully versed with Unreal Engine. Equally essential is a friendly and enthusiastic approach to briefs and collaboration. You should enjoy working in a team and being proactive in giving and seeking help to fellow team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work creatively and flexibly to interpret briefs which may range in scale and budget.
- Work to tight deadlines, while working to milestones set by project managers and lead designers.
- Create high-quality, industry-leading graphics for XR, AR, VP and live television.
- Build projects efficiently to allow quick changes as required and able to share projects with other team members.
- Work onsite and collaborate with Heads of Departments such as lighting designers and choreographers.
EXPERIENCE and PERSONAL QUALITIES
- Great visual eye for design, including attention to detail as well as creative flair.
- Excellent time-keeping and project planning skills, including working to deadlines.
- Aptitude to understand and respond to briefs and communicate design ideas to clients and Potion team members.
- Demonstrate good real-time understanding and workflow.

- Salary is dependent on experience
- Commencement date is as soon as possible but open to negotiation.
- Hybrid working between home, the London office and onsite jobs around the UK and the rest of the world
- Some weekend working might be required
- Time off in lieu and overtime bonuses available
