Job Description
monopo is looking for a mid-weight Copywriter-Strategist to join our growing London office. You will be actively involved in both the strategic and creative processes, contributing insight and writing to elevate the creative work and craft brands, communications and experiences that inspire.
We are a Tokyo-born independent creative agency and have set up our London office in March 2019. This position is for a full-time, in-house role at our London office, with a start date in January 2026. Most of your time will be spent on London projects but we frequently work in collaboration with our Paris, New York and Tokyo offices as well.
At monopo you will:
- Get actively involved in the creative process, collaborating with art directors and designers to develop fully rounded concepts
- Verbalise the concepts both for consumers (e.g. Headline writing, script writing) and clients or collaborators (e.g. Writing sharp concept statements)
- Strategically research and explore the subject matter to uncover powerful insights and storylines (e.g. Deep-dives into athlete stories)
- Conceive and write brand strategies that inspire consumers, clients and colleagues
- Think through the most powerful campaign roll-out and channel strategy
- Craft compelling presentations that are convincing without being verbose
You’re the perfect fit if you:
- Have a minimum of 3 years experience working as a Copywriter or Creative Strategist in a creative agency or brand-side
- Understand the role brands can play in culture and community, and are excited about both defining and activating that role for a range of clients
- Thrive at the intersection of creative and strategy, keen to contribute actively to both the creative and strategic processes
- Love diving deep into subcultures and know how to fall in love with a topic the way fans do.
- Know when you hit on a nugget of inspiration and you know how to dig for them
- Treat strategy as a path towards creative inspiration and treat writing as a way to sharpen a vision rather than blur it
- Are comfortable working proactively, actively identifying opportunities to contribute to ongoing projects
- Are comfortable working across several projects and have the ability to prioritise conflicting tasks
- Are a natural and kind internal communicator, able to collaborate positively to work towards the most powerful final execution together
- Share our passion for creative work that goes beyond the norm, challenging the limitations of the project to create new and unexpected outputs
- Have a valid UK work visa
