An integral part of this creative collective, the post holder will have responsibility for the smooth and efficient operation of the MLF studio. The Studio Manager is a vital part of both the company management and production team - a core linchpin at the heart of the company. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is; a people person, a great communicator, a master of multitasking, has an eye for detail and a passion for organising.

Main Responsibilities:

Systems, Processes & Administration

  • Ensure all employees and collaborators, internal and external, are inducted and up to date with current operational procedures and working guidelines at MLF.
  • Management, maintenance and development of core systems and processes (i.e. handbooks, , databases, file serves, studio usage, assets inventory).
  • Provide regular updates to management, the team & key collaborators about the day to day activities in the studio, including meetings, projects and events.
  • Working with the Director of Operations you will develop and implement new processes to create operational efficiencies.
  • General administration as needed to ensure systems upkeep.

Communications & Studio Profile

  • Communicate with clients and all members of the team (internal & external) as needed, embedding the MLF ethos into all areas of communication.
  • General website and portfolio upkeep, ensure information is up to date and representative of MLF current activity.
  • Ensure all projects follow brand guidelines (or similar) and feed into and contribute to the company portfolio, website, social media and any other public facing domain.
  • Ensure Creative Directors maintain social media content stream(s) / profiles.
  • Management of talks, panels and other profile building opportunities for the company (availability, fee negotiation if needed, liaison with talks rep, booking & call sheet for company representative).

Spaces & Maintenance

  • Maintain and manage a welcoming studio for visitors and production teams.
  • Support project teams with access to the studio facilities and other production needs on an adhoc basis including access to core information (i.e. insurance or security details).
  • Oversee the management of core company assets and inventory

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee and manage the studio budget with the Head of Finance.
  • Monitor budget health and spending inline with the agreed studio budget and produce quarterly financial reports.

Welfare & Socials

  • Working closely with the senior management team to promote the company culture to the MLF team.
  • Organise regular social events to cultivate the company culture and a positive working environment.

Other

  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required of this post as directed by the Board, Executive Producer and Director of Operations.

Competencies & Experience:

Essential

  • 3+ years’ experience working within Arts, Production and Events Production
  • Experience of being an enabler at the core of a team, such as Office Manager, Administrator or Project Manager.
  • Excellent planning and scheduling skills with the ability to manage tasks independently.
  • Have a good memory and can manage multiple projects or tasks at once.
  • Experience of; google apps (mail, calendars, gdocs, drive), slack, keynote, numbers, pages, word, excel, photoshop, dropbox or other systems and you are quick to learn new ones.
  • You are a people person and a good communicator. Experience of public facing work.
  • You are a team player who can work by yourself or in a busy environment.
  • Interest in the organisation’s area of work & an understanding of the context in which it operates.
  • Excellent oral & communication skills
  • Experience of working effectively with external organisations
  • Flexibility, patience and a positive approach to tasks
  • Highly motivated and well organised
  • Excellent attention to detail

Details:

  • This role is full time.
  • Holiday at 25 days per year (plus bank holidays all pro rata).
  • Permanent contract, with 3 month probationary period.
  • Pension contributions.
  • Salary, dependent on experience.

Working with Marshmallow Laser Feast

We are a small team (around 25) which scales on a project by project basis. You will work alongside everyone on the team, some of which work regularly in the studio and the rest work remotely from various locations in the UK. You will also be expected to work a lot of the time by yourself, and should be able to do so effectively. Our studio is in Hackney Wick, London and this is where you will work.
