Based in the heart of London’s Innovation District, our team of creative thinkers is growing quickly, and looking for a Senior Copywriter to join us.

The role

We’re looking for a highly creative and forward-thinking Senior Copywriter to join the FD team. You will work closely with the strategy and design teams to deliver tone of voice and copywriting for client brands, websites and communications; as well as supporting with developing our internal agency tone and copy style.

A senior copywriter will have a proven track record as a copywriter, with a deep understanding of the ways copy helps clients achieve their aims, and the ability to generate new brand tone of voice and impactful copy for every brief.

The day-to-day

  • You’ll own tone and copywriting projects with clients - liaising directly, presenting and managing the client.
  • Work closely with strategists to turn copy briefs into creative messaging across branding, websites, products and communications.
  • Work closely with designers to deliver tone of voice and messaging that works alongside visual ideation and expression to build our clients’ brands.
  • Work hard to understand our clients’ industry and world, including interviewing internal and customer stakeholders, to turn their insight into content and messaging that stands out and represents their unique position and product.
  • Check all copy generated by team members and offer feedback when necessary
  • Balancing multiple client projects at one time, and have the ability to jump between projects and industries, and manage your own workload to ensure you’re always delivering on-time and on-budget.
  • Supporting team members across the strategy, design and client services teams to meet collective goals.
  • Managing external suppliers to ensure they deliver to our high creative standards.
  • Being culturally connected, understanding new waves and trends. Attending events, exhibitions, and connecting to universities and design institutions.
  • Actively contributing to FD culture.

Who are we looking for

A Senior Copywriter who has a passion for tone of voice, copywriting and words in general; who can help build out our new copywriting team, working closely with the Strategy Director.

You can originate a new brand tone of voice, but equally write new messaging for a sales brochure, all within the same day.

You enjoy team collaboration and working alongside strategists and designers to deliver projects that will make a positive impact on the world.

Key skills and experience

  • 6+ years of industry experience working within professional, commercial writing
  • Strong experience helping brands develop and manage their tone of voice, and delivering strong and on-tone copy that stands out from the crowd.
  • Experience across B2B and B2C, in tone origination and copywriting.
  • Ability to write for multimedia, including websites, videos & animations, corporate narratives, brand communications, digital products, sales and marketing.
  • Ability to manage clients with clear and timely communications, present your work confidently and navigate internal and client stakeholder feedback to resolution.
  • Ability to run interviews, workshops, and interactions with clients.
  • Ability to understand client commercial needs, and develop tone and copy that helps them to deliver on their objectives.
  • Ability to flex and work within any industry, with any type of client, anywhere in the world (from startups to corporations to schools and beyond).
  • Have a good understanding of writing for SEO optimisation, and ability to deliver high-performing copy for client websites.
  • Ability to work closely with strategists and designers to deliver consolidated creative projects.

This role will only be suitable for advanced copywriters ready to make their mark and influence others. It is a demanding post and requires the patience to help others grow professionally, as well as evolving your own skills.
