Job Description

You’re an experienced digital designer, comfortable with your tools, with a solid ability to make beautiful and innovative web design for a broad range of clients. To do so you will be able to work with (and further develop) client assets, as well as creating your own assets in order to bring a coherent design together. This will be in line with understanding of branding and how it feeds into design systems.

As a new member of the team, and especially now when most of us are working from home, it’s important that you are proactive, have a strong work ethic with attention to detail and a passion for digital design.

What you will be doing

Work with and help develop client branding.

Work with and help develop Design Systems within Figma/Framer.

Work with Photoshop and any other programmes that aid in asset creation/development (Illustrator, Cinema 4D, After Effects etc).

Support the design team with research and design concepts.

3+ years experience in a digital agency, creative company, digital start-up or product team.

You should possess excellent visual and user interface design skills along with the ability to come up with and deliver original ideas.

Experience designing mobile-first responsive sites and products

Flexibility and enthusiasm to work in an iterative design process, motivated by group critique. You should expect to show and talk about your work regularly with the team.

You will be required to talk through your ideas confidently with clients.

Experience working collaboratively with developers and product managers on digital products in an agile way – we run regular 1–2 week sprints so you’ll need to be able to break down, plan and prioritise your work.

Maintain clear and consistent communication with the wider team (Developers and Project Managers) throughout a project's duration

Motion design or 3D experience would be a plus

The mindset we are looking for

Love what you do; we really care about our clients and the work.

Love to learn; learning new things is what motivates all of us and is why we love the Web.

Be proactive; you get out what you put in.

Show talent; make us feel like we’ll never be that good.

Attention to detail; we worry, fret and polish till it’s right.

What you’ll get out of it

We’re a small company and a tight team - we work collaboratively, we share load, we have deep specialist experience but often blend roles. We are a business that embraces a learning culture. You don’t need experience in all of the technologies we use if you’re someone who loves to keep on learning and is passionate about new technologies.

We’re also a tech start-up   —  researching, prototyping and building our own products as part of our R&D process. You’ll be actively involved in this with opportunities to explore technologies you’re most interested in.

We want our staff to be as comfortable as possible so they can be as creative and productive as possible. As such we leave where you work up to you.

If you prefer to work fully remote, that’s fine. We’re ‘remote-by-default’ so all our systems and processes are 100% designed for this.

If you enjoy the company of other humans or it’s difficult for you to work from home, then we have lovely, 24-hour accessible, dedicated premises both in London Bridge and Nottingham.

In reality, most of us mix and match - a few days in the office, a few days at home. It’s up to you.

You must however have the right to work in the UK.

Our hiring process

Initial application – a short initial chat by phone/zoom to learn a bit more about each other.

Design Interview – a more in depth interview to chat about your experience and skills. We ask candidates to show us some work you are proud of, so we can talk through your designs and discuss your processes in the interview.

Team Interviews – a short meeting with our founders and some of the wider members of the team such as engineers, product managers. Let us know if there's anyone in particular at SOON_ that you would like to meet and we'll invite them along.

Decision – either an offer or we will come back to you with feedback.

The salary we've allocated to this role is 40k+ dependent on experience. Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.

The best way to find out more is to apply - we’re open to having a chat and answering any questions you may have.
