Junior Designer
Job Description
Want to make your name in multimedia design? Love podcasts? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.
This is a brand-new role for Podmasters – a chance to work on and develop the look and feel of some of the biggest podcasts in the UK. It’s perfectly suited to a hard-working first- or second-jobber with excellent design skills, calmness under pressure and a willingness to learn and get stuck in. This role will be our first internal design hire and will report directly to the digital marketing manager.
What does Podmasters do?
We’re one of the UK’s leading independent podcast networks, producing shows like Oh God, What Now?, The Bunker and Doomsday Watch with Arthur Snell, as well as podcasts for clients like Institute for Government and i-D. Reaching over 1.3m listeners a month and counting, we’ve experienced 100% growth in the past 12 months and have ambitious plans to keep going at the same pace.
Your role:
- Creating static and video assets to promote podcasts across social media and beyond. This could be graphics, videos, memes and more. We produce 10+ podcast episodes every week, so working quickly and effectively to produce high-impact content is key.
- Creating brand identities and designing and executing artwork for new podcast launches.
- Taking regular design feedback from a small team of stakeholders and successfully implementing critiques.
- Working closely with the podcast production team to realise their design concepts.
- Producing visual marketing materials for a variety of platforms, including websites, advertisements, merchandise and more.
- Providing design solutions as the “voice” of design within the organisation
- Undertaking special design tasks as needs arise. This might mean creating a video to lambast a government decision or explain what nuclear fusion is; it could be creating a poster to promote a podcast, or it could be sprucing up a deck for a client presentation. Your time will be carefully managed to not overload you, but we want someone who is willing to pitch in and turn their hand to everything.
Skills and experience:
- Creative/Graphic Design degree.
- Strong visual design skills and an excellent portfolio demonstrating this.
- Ability to edit video.
- Excellent knowledge in your chosen professional design software.
- Understanding of branding, brand design and marketing
- Comfortable working with both print and digital design
- Photography skills are a bonus.
- Confident presentation skills and ability to pitch ideas with clarity
- An outgoing team player with a self-motivated working style
- Keen eye for detail and a willingness to take critiques
- Time management and multi-tasking skills
Benefits include:
- Competitive salary
- Company pension
- 25 days of holiday per year plus bank holidays and Christmas
- A great working environment – based in a co-working space in Highbury with regular drinks and treats, and a fun, relaxed team atmosphere.
- As a company, we are more interested in skill sets than qualifications, so if you don’t have all the above but do have a track record of creating amazing graphics and videos, then please get in touch.
