Job Description

Jacuna is at the forefront of the rapidly growing dark kitchen industry with over 10 national locations serving 100s of the UK’s most-loved and innovative food brands, with significant growth planned in the coming years. Dark kitchens are typically delivery-only kitchens with no customer frontage from which brands can prepare and deliver high-quality food to customers living or working nearby via apps such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Just Eat.

Jacuna is looking for an outstanding Designer with experience in building consumer facing applications to expand our offering to brands. You’ll work closely with the CTO to build upon an initial MVP. This is a three months contract.

What you’ll do

  • You’ll lead on the design of new consumer products, delivering leadership on aesthetics, usability and brand communication
  • Develop wireframes in a modern design tool - such as Figma - that can then be taken to production by engineers
  • Provide an overall design language for Jacuna’s consumer facing applications to use, providing the toolkit that will be iterated on as new features are built
  • Familiarise yourself with current design trends in the food industry, understanding what a best in class consumer product in the food technology space looks like, and what design components are critical for their success
  • Operate as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with product and engineering leadership to produce a product that looks and feels like the Jacuna brand

What you need to succeed

  • 2+ years experience in designing consumer facing products, ideally with start-up experience
  • Strong awareness of modern design principles, you’re aware of and have demonstrated ability in designing applications which fit amongst modern consumer facing SaaS products
  • An awareness of modern frontend development and tooling and are used to working within the constraints that accompany them, you’re aware of what makes a design ‘difficult’ to implement and can time budget accordingly
  • You can design a wireframe and bring that through from initial sketches to finished product
  • You have experience with the modern design stack: Figma, Miro, Whimsical etc
