Job Description

We’re seeking a brand-savvy digital specialist to join our tight-knit, creative team. With experience in both web and product, you’ll lead design on our digital workstreams, as we increasingly converge brand and digital for our ambitious clients. You’ll collaborate with all levels inside and outside of the business; from directors to junior designers, to help define, craft and bring to life, digital-first brands.

Why the job exists

This is an exciting and growing space for us, and you’ll have a chance to help build and shape our digital offer, and how it relates to our wider brand work.

Working in close partnership with the relevant project director, the senior digital designer will lead the delivery of end-to-end website and product design projects. Encompassing UX-focussed discovery and definition work-stages, wireframing, concept development, detailed layout and component design and documentation — through to QA, and overseeing the build and implementation of projects by our technical partners.

Core competencies

  • Design and user research: able to competently share best practice, inspiration, and competitor analysis. Able to carry out user research, and define needs and personas. Ability to draw insights and make recommendations, and document and present back succinctly
  • Site/content-mapping and wireframing: able to develop new ideas and translate existing content from (live) websites or product architecture, or build from a high-level written scope of work
  • User experience definition: in collaboration with senior/director-level team members, able to define inspiring and actionable principles, that reference research, user profiles/personas and data, or wider business and brand or design objectives
  • Concept design: ability to think conceptually, and develop new and exciting ideas, from both a UX and UI perspective. Able to interpret/adapt, extend and build-on, and influence brand identity toolkits into compelling interactions and interface elements, or key pages and touchpoints in a user journey
  • Attention to detail: passionate about the craft and integrity of your work, and it’s faithful implementation. Strong understanding and value of great art direction, and ability to refine key visual elements such as typography and imagery. Ability to create clear documentation, and communicate design intent to developers. Overseeing quality assurance in great detail — you’re also happy getting into the CMS if it means getting it just right
  • Communication: confident collaborating and a conscientious listener — eager to make a meaningful contribution whilst encouraging other voices of varying levels of experience; an enthusiastic and engaging presenter, both internally and externally
  • Expert knowledge: your grasp and articulation of your specialism instills confidence in both clients and internal collaborators, enabling trust and great results from technical partners too
  • Problem solving: You’re resourceful and you see obstacles as opportunities, getting a kick-out of a smart work-around. You’re a great questioner — happy to fill in the gaps and join the dots — you don’t need it all mapped-out for you: that’s part of the job
  • Self-organising: motivated and able to meaningfully progress a project or workstream without having specific steps mapped-out, collaborating with the project team on defining steps within a process. With strong time-management, you understand the importance of delivering against a plan, and can make it happen
  • Animation/motion capability a bonus

Your attitude

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A growth-mindset, always looking to learn, listen to feedback and develop
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to collaborate on ‘how’ tasks are completed, in terms of process, but also testing and learning new tools, technology and techniques too
  • Adaptable: happy to turn your hand to other project requirements, or apply your abilities in unexpected ways/scenarios
  • A proactive and autonomous nature
  • A clear head, remaining calm under pressure, helping others to do the same.
  • A personable nature: bringing the team and the client along for the journey, always with a positive energy, especially when things get tough
  • An action-orientated approach — making an impact by driving projects to completion through determination and rational decisions
  • A passion for detail and diligence — for design and beyond: you also care about folder structures, file names, punctuation and making sure the right typographic glyphs are used
  • A great team player, you marry energy and enthusiasm with sensitivity and empathy

Your experience

  • 6-8 years’ hands-on experience, of every stage of end-to-end website and product design projects, predominantly in a design-led, agency environment, servicing brands
  • You are currently in a digitally-focussed role, looking for a new challenge — stepping up and/or sideways — where you will learn-from and influence the evolution of a digitally-led branding agency; or with a multidisciplinary background, now looking to double-down on your career as a digital specialist, with the opportunity to grow in seniority in-line an organically expanding team and client-base
  • B2B and tech-sector client experience a bonus

IT/Technology Skills

You should be highly proficient in:

  • Figma
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator

Highly proficient or confident adopting:

  • Google Workspace: Slides, Docs, Sheets

Strong knowledge of a wide range of content management platforms
