About the role

We’re searching for two experienced, talented and visionary Midweight Graphic Designers to join our growing team and play a key role in developing our cultural and heritage projects across the globe. Our Midweight Graphic Designers are accountable for championing the innovation and creative development of Barker Langham’s deliverables alongside the Senior Designers.

They’ll have a desire to do things differently, inspiring fellow team members whilst working on a diverse and exciting range of projects. They create brand-compliant, outstanding design, and deliver concept designs from ideation to production. They’ll use excellent typographic, infographic and publication design skills to actively create and innovate across the design of project deliverables and pitches, which allows the company to be recognized in the cultural industry. They ensure the highest calibre of work is being delivered to the client, often attending workshops and presentations. They are happy to work within a highly productive team in a fast-changing environment and be comfortable with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

  • Use InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, and other appropriate mediums to produce creative and innovative graphic designs
  • Design and assist with the development of documents, presentations and other storytelling solutions (print media, publications, brand identity systems, infographics, exhibition panels etc.)
  • Follow brand templates and style guidelines for client pitches, presentations, and deliverables
  • Create advanced, effective and strategically creative reports, presentations and infographics, using templates and style guidelines
  • Make sure the design production is always consistent with the brand identity guidelines
  • Create brands/look and feel concepts for projects and internal initiatives
  • Follow the sign off procedure at each stage of design production
  • Design data visualisations that depict complicated data sets in an easy to understand format
  • Prepare artworks for professional production, applying printer/producer specifications
  • Check printer proofs and amend artwork prior to approval as required
  • Create visual solutions for internal and external events, company milestones, social media platforms, and the company newsletter

About You

  • Excellent skills across Adobe CS: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop (After Effects is a bonus)
  • Skilled in Google suite and Microsoft packages
  • Passionate about the creative process and experienced working across all communications platforms
  • Ability in the creation of creative concepts, editorial, and infographics
  • A keen eye for typography, a love of typesetting and layout principles
  • Understanding of the various digital and conventional printing processes, including artworking for print
  • Meeting demanding timescales, whilst maintaining the highest standards
  • Nimble and able to quickly adapt to different client work styles
  • Flexible, collaborative, and resourceful hands-on approach
  • Excellent communicator and able to present ideas with clarity and engagement at all levels
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Proactive, resilient and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to work swiftly across diverse projects
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Passion for graphic design, aware of latest design trends, practices and movements
  • Knowledge or interest in the heritage and cultural sector
