Job Description

Joining the Operations Team, you will be responsible for the technical production of a wide variety of exciting digital programs. Whether it’s a fully virtual show, a seminar for 10 CEOs, or even a live summit for 4000 people, our clients expect an engaging, perfectly executed and highly creative experience.

We’re looking for an experienced technical producer, who can hit the ground running. You are in your element designing, planning and delivering technical production packages for virtual, live and hybrid experiences – from small meetings through to conferences for 4000 pax. You are well connected in the industry and have the ability to negotiate contracts with technical production suppliers to ensure the best value for money, as well as be front and centre advising on technical production requirements across the full portfolio of clients’ events internally and directly with clients.

Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ experience delivering, creating and pricing technical production packages for virtual programs, digital campaigns (and live events) as part of an agency environment. You must have a demonstrable track record of generating innovative solutions and be a superb communicator. upstage is a fast-paced agency, and candidates must be prepared to go the extra mile to deliver consistently high standards.

The role:

The Technical Producer is responsible for managing, coordinating and ensuring exceptional technical services and delivery for our programs.

The role is responsible for the efficient, premium, and safe planning/pre production for recordings, broadcasts, brand activations, installations, exhibitions and live events. You are a technical professional with proven experience in all areas of technical and production management, with an ability to understand and demonstrate how new digital technologies are being introduced into virtual, live and hybrid engagement programs and brand experiences, and provide previous examples of integrated digital events delivered.

Working under the VP of Production Services, the Technical Producer will be responsible for ensuring that the technical arrangements for programs are of the highest possible production standards and, when required, that they meet with relevant Health & Safety regulations. You must be commercially minded as you will have financial and budgetary control of the technical packages you create.

Duties would typically include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing various styles of recording; examples include keynotes, presenters, panel discussions and entertainment {currently remote only}
  • Driving any theme or messaging throughout the scripting, filming and sequencing process
  • Writing MC/host scripts, running script development meetings, briefing and recording MC/host sections
  • Having a working knowledge of website design and web services
  • Using various content (graphics, idents, pre-records etc.), stitch together the ‘show’ to tie in with the published agenda timings
  • Editing recorded content, rendering and streaming as required
  • Managing and co-ordinating the production requirements as assigned to you
  • Overseeing the technical delivery of assigned programs
  • Effectively shaping and managing all technical elements of a production, from conception to delivery
  • Ensuring assigned projects are delivered to relevant H&S standards
  • Managing assigned production budgets
  • Managing the technical delivery of competitive pitches or new business leads as assigned
  • Reviewing and investigating new technologies which could be used in our program delivery to create truly memorable experiences

Your skillset:

First and foremost you will be digital native.

  • Five plus years in digital technical production
  • Bachelors degree (or relevant life experience)
  • Technologically savvy with great media/corporate engagement industry knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good coaching skills and enthusiasm
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Extensive knowledge of current relevant software / industry tools
  • Ability to work flexibly, learn new production technologies and adapt to new ways of working
  • Production management experience in the UK and internationally
