Job Description

We’re looking for a talented Graphic Designer to join our growing creative team. The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for product packaging, typography, logo design and branding. One day you might be crafting typography on a product label, creating digital assets for our annual painting competition, or creating new website pages. The next day, you might be signing off print samples and/or artworking our next print publication to send to print.

You will be working very closely with the Head of Visual Content, Head of Brand and Jackson's Director to maintain and evolve the Jackson's aesthetics across all touchpoints. You will also be working closely with the Commercial Director, Purchasing Manager and external suppliers to expand Jackson’s product ranges as well as other sub brands.

About You

The role requires a hard-working, self-driven individual who has a great understanding of graphic design and branding. You will have a passion for packaging and all things print, as well as a keen interest in digital design and content curation. You will have a high attention to detail and good creative ideas.

We’re looking for someone with proven experience as a Graphic Designer with a quality portfolio.

You will be technically led and competent with current software.

You will be comfortable taking responsibility and working with a high level of autonomy.

You will be open to being guided by the team's vision, as well as having a genuine desire to input your own creative ideas.

Key Responsibilities

Jackson’s Design, Artwork and Brand Application

  • Design and artwork for Jackson's own brand product packaging, ie labels, brushes, sketchbooks, cases, canvases.
  • Design and artwork for delivery packaging, ie labels, tape, invoices, stickers.
  • Design and artwork for annual catalogues.
  • Design and artwork for adhoc collateral, ie vouchers, leaflets, POS displays, signs, colour charts.
  • Design for internal coms.
  • Design of infographics, charts and icons.
  • Consult and request images from the Photography Team.
  • Maintain graphic consistency across all deliverables using and evolving Jackson's Brand Guidelines.
  • Liaise with and nurture relationships with expert packaging and print suppliers, ie managing quotes, samples, print sign off, artworks.

Sub Brand Design, Artwork and Brand Application

  • Design and artwork for secondary brand product packaging, ie labels, brushes, canvases.
  • Conceive brand strategy and rollout across all touchpoints for all new sub brands.
  • Liaise with the Commercial Director to establish a schedule.
  • Establish, maintain and evolve Jackson’s Sub Brand Brand Guidelines.
  • Liaise with the Marketplace Manager to strategise deployment for Amazon.
  • Liaise with and nurture relationships with expert packaging and print suppliers, ie managing quotes, samples, print sign off, artworks.

Jackson’s Art Prize

  • Create and strategise the brand identity for Jackson's annual art prize.
  • Establish, maintain and evolve the Art Prize Brand Guidelines.
  • Design and artwork for print materials, ie posters, postcards, banners, exhibition materials.
  • Design and artwork for digital assets, ie social media content, weekly newsletters, Jackson’s Art Prize website.
  • Liaise with the Art Prize Coordinator weekly.

Brand Guidelines

  • Maintain and evolve Jackson’s Brand Guidelines.
  • Maintain and evolve Jackson’s Sub Brand Brand Guidelines.
  • Establish, maintain and evolve the Art Prize Brand Guidelines.

Digital Design and Website Creation

  • Create website pages using our website builder platform for jacksonsart.com, jacksonsart.com/blog, jacksonspaintingprize.com, gallery.jacksonsart.com.
  • Prepare optimised digital assets.
  • Maintain and evolve website branding as new UX software opportunities arise.
  • Adhoc website maintenance, ie updating copy.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhoc design tasks, ie newsletters, social media, retail collateral.
  • Oversee and manage external freelance artworkers from time to time.

Requirements

Essential

  • A minimum of 3 years design experience.
  • Technical proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically with InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel/Google Suite, and Mac operating systems.
  • A basic understanding of how e-commerce websites work.
  • Experience of working with creatives.
  • Passionate about marketing, branding and design.
  • Enthusiasm for art materials and painting.
  • A basic understanding of art materials, and knowledge of art terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for the latest design trends, keep the team updated with industry standards.
