Your role

As a Visual Designer at Mettle, you will ensure visual excellence in everything Mettle Studio produces. Your role will predominantly focus on UI & UX design, with the opportunity to develop Mettle Studio’s brand and create brands for our clients, as we work together to create exceptional digital experiences.

In UI & UX Design you will:

• Champion visual design across web, app and other digital touch-points
• Create brilliant, high-fidelity UI designs
• Work with our UX researchers and designers to implement brands in the most authentic way possible
• Have a solid understanding of UI libraries and components. Which components should be used where and how they can be adapted.
• Consider all edge cases and fine details in your UI design work – from line lengths and data variations, to hover & focus states and dark mode.
• Be confident in using a variety of static and moving media to communicate your UI design work.
• Explore a breadth of design options and articulate trade-offs between each of them.
• Use industry patterns in your UI design work but know when something doesn’t work and can be pushed further.

In Brand Design you will:

• Run branding workshops with the Mettle team and our clients
• Create brand concepts that get clients excited
• Support clients to implement their visual identity
• Craft compelling stories for presentations, pitch decks and proposals
• Continue to evolve the Mettle Studio brand

As a collaborative team member at Mettle, you will:

• Push to continuously improve visual design standards across the team
• Manage and mentor junior team members
• Engage with collective feedback and critique sessions
• Contribute to thought leadership on topics that align to your personal passions
• Communicate effectively and build relationships with clients and partners
• Oversee project budgets and timelines to ensure effective delivery of projects

Your experience

We are looking for:

• A great portfolio of work that showcases your skills and experience across digital, UI and brand design – additional creative or technical skills are also welcome!
• 3-5+ years experience – ideally in visual design, UI, branding and UX design
• Excellent levels of attention to detail
• Great proficiency in digital design and prototyping – we love Figma, and will support you to transition from other platforms
• Strong visual, verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team
• Experience engaging directly with clients and guiding them through well-reasoned, rational and creative discussions
• A strong desire to improve your skills and explore new tools and processes

It’s also nice to have:

• Experience in no-code development (such as Webflow)

Salary & Benefits

This role pays an annual salary of between £30,000 and £50,000 based on your experience (this encompasses both our mid-weight and senior designer pay bands), plus a profit-sharing bonus scheme.
