Head of Creative
Job Description
40 million people wear spectacles in the UK alone, but the optical industry hasn’t changed enough in three centuries. Products are tired, standards are mediocre, and the experience is dull. We’re going to change that and build the world’s most customer-centric, beautiful spectacles company.
We’re looking for a highly skilled, precise and experienced Head of Creative who is ultimately the guardian of all our creative and visual output - pushing us to exacting standards, and to an exceptional degree of consistency, in accordance with our brand identity.
You will set the creative vision, interpreting and developing our identity according to our moniker ‘precision with soul’.
You will refine and elevate the Cubitts approach to content, encompassing photography, illustration, animation, video and the written word - ensuring our creative is distinctly and recognisably Cubitts.
The role involves:
Leading our in-house creative team, to continually refine our visual identity, and interpret and develop 'precision with soul' - maintaining our spirit guide, visual identity and brand books
Developing our approach to typography, colour, texture, material, composition and form, bringing a highly intentional approach to all creative decisions - no matter how small
Ensuring Cubitts.com is a brand-driven digital experience, working closely with the Brand and eComm teams to ensure it is beautiful and meticulously consistent with the creative vision
Influencing retail store design, identifying and managing agencies to turn briefs into immaculate retail concepts working with retail teams to ensure an elevated retail experience, encompassing merchandising, signage, materiality, furnishings, etc
Ensuring creative briefs are purposeful and reflective of our brand identity, and managing execution to ensure consistency.
Who you are:
Have experience in defining and delivering the big picture creative strategy, but equally obsesses about the tiniest detail
Is passionate about impeccable design: you believe good design can change behaviours and lives
Experience leading, developing, managing, and inspiring creative teams with demonstrated success
Would rather not do something than do something mediocre
Combines creativity with pragmatism
Has a wonderful eye, but a low ego too
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate
