We are proud of our work and our people in equal measure and our passion for what we do and the culture we have developed is what drives us in everything we do. We are striving to be a more diverse company, making positive action to grow our network. We’re an agency where our independent spirit drives our people, passion and purpose.

Founded in 2003, we have grown to over 85 people in London, Los Angeles, Singapore and Buenos Aires. Our work is insights-driven and innovation-led and our strategies are made up of a blend of creativity and collaboration, tailor-made for each of our client’s brands.

At Substance we enjoy, appreciate and recognise that everyone we employ has different needs and circumstances. We welcome applicants at all stages of their career and life journeys, working with the individuals we employ to provide flexibility and tailored support. Our aim is to provide fewer barriers and achieve positive balance, whatever life may have, hold or throw at you.

What we offer:

We are a growing friendly and diverse team who work and have fun together. Our vibrant office is based in the London Docklands area, overlooking the Thames, with good transport links and with great onsite facilities. We have a number of people centric initiatives and benefits in place and are always working to improve ways of supporting our people.

What we are looking for:

As a video editor at Substance Global, you will play a pivotal role in driving our presence and success in the entertainment marketing space working with clients such as Disney, Paramount Pictures, Universal and XBOX. You will be part of the team responsible for taking social video content to the next level by bringing flair, and creativity to your work.

The video editor will have a drive to succeed and desire to always improve, learn and push our creative offerings. Our video editing team edits from a variety of source materials including feature films, TV shows, console game materials and filmed footage.

You may be asked to work on both short and long form video content, creating exciting and engaging edits for use across social media, digital media, cinema and broadcast to the correct technical specification. You will work alongside senior members of the team to provide quality assurance for the video output of the studio.

We are looking for someone who has led and delivered large scale social and digital marketing campaigns and has a strong working knowledge of content for social media and video production within the Film & Entertainment Gaming space.

Working across high value pre-release theatrical film TV and streaming content, you will need to work within the constraints of high content security standards, which does place an emphasis on working from our office on a fairly regular basis. Ideally you will live within a reasonable commuting distance from the office.

What you can bring to Substance:

The ideal candidate has:

  • A minimum of 4+ years experience in a similar role within a busy production or similar agency environment and a passion for visual storytelling
  • Strong experience taking briefs and transforming them into engaging audience specific content across Social Media, online and offline media and broadcast
  • Detailed knowledge of video codecs, file formats and specs for web and beyond
  • Experience of a wide range of HD, UHD, HDR, RAW and VFX workflows as well as thorough understanding of the production lifecycle
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate confidently with a range of people at different levels and act assertively when required
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to apply them to operational situations
  • A passion to stay up to date with new trends and technologies to help us stay ahead of the curve
  • Expert knowledge of Premiere Pro
  • Good knowledge of After Effects is advantageous but not required
  • High level audio editing and sound design experience
  • Strong knowledge of colour grading

Substance Global is striving to be a more diverse company - taking positive action to grow the diversity of our network - and our recruitment process seeks to eliminate aspects of unconscious bias. For this reason, all CVs received will have names and other personal identifiable information removed, so that those reviewing applications will do so on the basis of skill sets and aptitude alone. Selected candidates will next be appraised - either by set tasks or interview(s), or both - based on scoring criteria against the role’s required competencies.

Please also let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments during the interview process.
