Job Description

About Creative Mentor Network:

People from lower socio-economic backgrounds are not fully represented in the creative workforce – and we exist to change this. Our range of mentoring programmes are designed so that everyone wins: supportive careers guidance for young people; training and development for mentors; access to an amazing diverse talent pool for creative businesses.

We work with partners including Soho House, Sony Music and Facebook to design and deliver bespoke mentor programmes, supporting young people and creative professionals to build meaningful and impactful relationships. As part of this, we create sustained organisational change by growing a movement of inclusive leaders through training and development for mentors.

We are a dynamic organisation, evolving as we grow. And the way we work together reflects this. We’re open to new ideas and ways of working, always for the benefit of the young people we support.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Senior Marketing Manager to help us strengthen our community and make sure that our company has a strong industry presence that reflects our track record of impact, positioning CMN at the centre of the conversation about diversity, equity and inclusion.

We are growing our team as we scale nationally and internationally; this role will play a central part in that expansion.

While we have ambitious aims for the future, we are currently a small charity and so the scope of this role is broad. You will work closely with the CEO, Managing Director and Head of Programmes to create and deliver a sales and impact driven marketing strategy. You will lead on everything from email marketing, events, community management, social media, marketing collateral and news and opinion blogs.

This is an ideal job for someone with a background in marketing and PR who is looking to put their skills and experience to make positive social change! This role is right for you if you are just as comfortable thinking strategically as rolling your sleeves up and being very hands on executing the strategy.

Skills, experience and behaviours:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in marketing and/or PR
  • Strong copywriter with a good understanding of storytelling
  • Strong visual sense and design skills with experience using design software such as Photoshop, Indesign
  • Confident using marketing and social media tools: Mailchimp; Squarespace; Twitter; Instagram; LinkedIn
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience setting and leading on a marketing strategy
  • Warm, friendly, ‘a connector’ keen to get to know our community of mentors, mentees and partner businesses, as well as connect them with each other
  • Takes ownership with a proactive approach to improving processes
  • Management experience

Bonus, but not essential:

  • PR experience, pitching to trade press
  • Experience working with high level ambassadors
  • Experience setting marketing budgets

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion:

  • Aware of the importance of DEI practices within an organisation
  • Act with empathy & sensitivity to all colleagues & stakeholders, irrespective of cultural background or protected characteristic, (Equality Act 2010)

Responsibilities:

Strategy: work with the CEO and Managing Director to create a sales and impact driven marketing strategy, creating and managing budgets, content calendar, reporting quarterly on the impact of our marketing activities.

Copywriting: produce compelling copy that aligns with our messaging across our newsletters, blog, website and marketing collateral to raise awareness of CMN, generating warm business leads and engaging our alumni community.

Content & Asset Creation: work with the CMN team and alumni community to create and commission engaging content for online (eg. high quality images, videos, blogs) and use it to raise awareness of CMN nationally, and tell the stories of our mentees and ambassador community.

Social media: oversee and direct our Social Media Executive

Website: manage website and SEO, working to continually improve the site

Events: programme, promote, host and evaluate CMN events for our community, and for b2b marketing purposes

Job posting: manage all aspects of CMN’s job listings, driving the growth of this offering to both bring in more revenue and increase alumni employment

Community engagement: strengthen our alumni community and drive long term engagement with CMN. Ultimately we want to support mentees throughout the early stages of their career and we want mentors to continue to advocate for us

PR: work with external PR support to engage high level ambassadors for the charity

Start date: Immediate start

Salary & benefits: £30,000 - 40,000 depending on experience, 26 days holiday (plus office closure at Christmas), Soho House Membership, flexible working (opportunity to work remotely 3 days a week, staggered hours)

Location: London Kings Cross and remote working 3 days a week

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
