Hue & Cry is a Creative & Communications agency, based in London and New York. We exist to cause a stir in food, drink, and travel, by making brands impossible to ignore. We operate flexible working with core hours, and a 3:2 day studio/WFH hybrid model.

In this highly engaging, fun and varied role, the Senior Creative Designer holds a pivotal role in our team, both a conceptual thinker and incredibly talented designer, you come up with ideas and then develop, evolve and refine briefs to create excellent solutions across a diverse range of channels such as print, motion/video, experiential and digital.

You have a flair for branding, an eye for detail and a solid grasp of how to bring an idea to life in the real world. You will first and foremost create innovative and compelling visual solutions - from global platforms to brand assets, from full scale brand identities to toolkits and film.

Reporting to the CD, the Senior Creative Designer links strategic thinking, ideation and design, translating insight into big ideas, creating inspiring, thought-provoking and effective creative output:

Inspire and visualise brilliant ideas and deliver strategically sound, beautifully compelling creative work across an eclectic and diverse range of projects.

Research and understand the creative challenge delivering well thought through solutions with a simple and clear rationale.

Demonstrate a constant curiosity to explore new ideas and absorb visual and cultural trends, deploying them in fresh, new and exciting ways.

Execute a higher level of design practice and craft that is grounded in solid, clear rationale that also cares about the smallest of details that brings polish to the work.

To be a powerful storyteller with an ability to present creative work in a simple and compelling manner.

With increased influence and responsibility, you will manage work independently driving ownership of your projects and project teams.

Look for opportunities for communicating sustainability and areas that can help clients lessen their planetary impact.

Add value and level up ideas, designs and presentations inside and outside of your workstream so the work leaving the design department is of the highest standard.

KEY COMPETENCIES

What do you need to be competent at to do this role:

• To be proficient in the use of all the usual design packages, Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop, Premiere/After Effects, XD/Figma (3D is a bonus)

• At least 6 years relevant industry experience.

• To be naturally curious and bring new ideas and inspiration to your work and the wider creative team by demonstrating that you’re plugged into contemporary culture, always inspiring your clients and wider agency team with viewpoints from the wider world that helps create an environment where ideas and creative exploration is encouraged and celebrated.

Ability to multi-task and an enduring commitment to timelines and deadlines.

• A knowledge of print, experiential and digital production practices and techniques.

• Demonstrate good organisational and problem-solving skills.

• Possible experience in FMCG’s, On & off trade environments as well as a variety of other industry sectors.

• To be a compelling communicator and storyteller, with an ability to present creative in a simple and motivating way.

SECONDARY FUNCTION

Collaborate with the team, inspiring them to develop visual concepts and create relevant assets that are second to none.

• Lead the team to work in an insight lead way that supports our audience first, impossible to ignore proposition

• Own internal and external brainstorming and concept development sessions to uncover brilliant ideas and to hone and craft others.

• Inspire teams to think beyond the obvious, develop innovative creative from broad concept development through to implementation.

• Help to drive and support an ideas led environment that celebrates creative exploration and encourages boundary pushing.

• Be the internal guardian for designated clients and projects, overseeing the agency output and ensuring it’s strategically and creatively aligned.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Offer your creative expertise and support to the Creative Team and the wider agency

• Explore new concepts and ideas with confidence and encourage those more junior to do the same providing constructive feedback and direction.

• To set, accept and tackle demanding objectives with enthusiasm, and energy demonstrating drive, determination and commitment to creative excellence.

• To seek ownership of and drive forward projects whilst motivating the team and maintaining forward momentum.

• To establish and develop strong working relationships both internally and externally with people at all levels. Such as collaborate and spread the power of the creative department to the PR team. Levelling up their output to knit both comms and creative together as a cohesive agency offer.

• To be confident with authority and decision-making, delegating work appropriately to others (taking into account your abilities and the resources available to you).
