Job Description

Rotate° are on the hunt for our first People & Culture Manager who is aspiring to make a huge impact in a business that is growing from 20 to 35 people, all working to create and deliver incredible eCommerce websites for our partners.

About Rotate

We are a digital creative studio based in East London that specialises in eCommerce – from brand, to build, to audience.

We work with brands we don't call clients but rather partners, with the ambition to grow fast in their sector.

Our partners not only have to be brands we believe in but ones we are passionate about growing, with like-minded teams we love creating with. They drive us, we drive them.

Together we create value, increase sales and build memorable digital brands...never just websites!

About the role

You'll be taking on the responsibility of working in a brand new position for us here at Rotateo and we're super excited about it.

In short, we are looking for a dynamic professional with good agency experience, who can make Rotateo more efficient, more successful, and even more of a great place to work for our team. They will be at the heart of the studio and more importantly, there for our people.

The successful candidate will be a People & Culture Manager who doesn't just follow standard HR processes by default but has the vision and expertise in your field, backed with a combination of research and experience to build a truly unique and dynamic culture.

The responsibilities detailed below are an initial outline. The right candidate would mould the role themselves; developing expert knowledge of the company and identifying both new areas of responsibility and areas that can be deprioritised or outsourced. As such we see this as a role with an opportunity for growth.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

Studio Manager Requirements:

● Making sure our studio (when we return to it) is a welcoming environment to support great work and our talented people.

○ Ensuring all our day-to-day studio supplies are stocked-up at all times.

○ Running bi-monthly update meetings with the Founder and making sure we have the

appropriate contractors, insurance, and the like.

● Operational budget responsibility for staff entertainment and studio supplies including

handling related invoices to ensure any suppliers are paid on time by liaising with our

bookkeeper and getting the correct approvals and sign-off.

● You may be called upon to install, operate, maintain or troubleshoot technical equipment.

You may also have to schedule repairs of equipment.

● Day-to-day support Founder & Senior Management Team.

Talent & Resourcing Requirements:

● Working closely with the Project Managers to track and plan resources on projects within the team for current and future projects. Identifying where gaps need to be filled with hiring or freelance talent.

● Owning our hiring processes for permanent staff, and defining best practices for those processes, taking in the latest thinking on diversity and inclusion.

○ Assist in the recruitment process - sourcing and networking for brilliant candidates - in some instances using online hiring platforms and recruiters, coordinating recruitment process and relevant communication.

○ Ensure we have a pipeline of excellent freelance talent to deliver on partner briefs.

○ Liaise with the Senior Management Team to ensure a healthy pipeline of talent to

proactively support business growth.

People & Culture Responsibilities:

● Be the first point of contact for all HR/People related queries.

● Administer HR-related documentation, such as; offer letters, contracts of employment etc.

● Nurturing our culture and looking after the spirit of the team.

● You will ensure that new starters are on boarded and seamlessly inducted into Rotateo to give

them the best chance to succeed in their respective roles.

● Ensure CharlieHR (our HRIS) is up to date and used to its maximum benefit.

● Creating a strategy to drive employee experience, increasing engagement and performance

including developing initiatives to promote employee well-being in a fast-paced environment.

● Managing our quarterly Performance Review Cycle which includes 360o Feedback to ensure

that communication between people managers and employees is fluid and there is a constant

cycle of feedback.

● Supporting any leavers with their offboarding process, right through to their last day, and exit

interview.

Experience & Skills:

● You're a proven self-starter; keen to take on and shape a new role within a growing team.

● You have incredible attention to detail, strive for perfection and take pride in everything you do.

● You're comfortable working in a fast-moving and rapidly growing environment.

● You're extremely well organised, approachable, calm & adaptable. Things are changing and

evolving on a weekly basis, so you can keep a level head and get the job done.

● You can effectively negotiate, persuade and lead - three things that'll be key in making the role

a success.

● You're a people person. You care about the teams you work with and can build collaborative

relationships with them in order to understand problems and overcome them together.

● You're used to working with a high level of confidentiality.

● You've strong communication skills, both written and verbal, working with all members of the

team - from Juniors to Founders.

We'll be a great match if:

● You have a proven track record in a similar role within a Digital Agency environment with at least 2 years experience and are keen to bring best practice to help grow Rotateo

● You're incredibly meticulous and detail-oriented in all aspects of the operational side of HR.

● Experience in and understanding of Agile environments.

● You are adept at handling unstructured situations, "mucking in" and calm under pressure.

● You are excited to make this role your own, and define your own career path within the

company.

● You have experience scheduling multi-disciplinary teams and using scheduling software to

maintain an up-to-date view of current and upcoming work.

Importantly, you will be the hub of the studio - so a positive outlook is important, as well as empathy and fun to be around.

Role Competencies:

● Self-organising - you take responsibility for your own schedule and workload. You know what’s expected of you each week and can confidently discuss competing priorities on your time.

● Teamwork - you achieve your goals working with your colleagues and clients - collaboratively. You avoid being the hero and you’re never a team of one. You understand the reasons for our baseline standards, and you stick to them.

● Sensitivity to others - you are polite and considerate to clients and colleagues and understand that we’re all working toward the same goal.
