Job Description

The Role

The FT design desk has an opening for a talented visual specialist to produce dynamic treatments for stories and products across the FT's digital content.

You will have editorial experience at a leading news/content organisation, creating and commissioning visuals of all flavours, to tight deadlines.

We are looking for someone whose portfolio demonstrates cutting-edge examples of work across formats from in-story to social, and motion design within video. You will also have experience of working with developers on bespoke projects.

An understanding of visual brand is also important - what it is, and how it can be extended into new formats and products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality visuals for editorial stories and products, with an emphasis on longform and the light app.
  • Create lead images for news, features and series, as well as visual explainers and branding. This requires an expert skill set in image creation, including some motion design
  • Use and develop the FT’s visual language to entice readers and keep them engaged in our content. This includes visuals for new products, ensuring a confident expression of content and brand
  • Commission illustrators across features and opinion content
  • Work closely with editors to advise on and shape visual treatments
  • Liaise with colleagues across the visual department, comprising the design and picture desks, under the direction of the head of design, to develop links with the video team when working on motion design sections of FT video.

Please submit your CV and portfolio by Wednesday 16th February 2022
