Hello hello!

We’re Gorilla Gorilla! An independent film and animation studio that helps brands tell powerful stories of change. We’re on the hunt for a talented Creative Director to join our growing team.

Office / homeworking

This is primarily an office-based role (we’re on City Road near to Angel / Old St / Farringdon). We support homeworking with number of office days determined on a role-by-role basis with an expectation of a minimum of 3 office days per week for all team members.

The role

The Creative Director will closely work with our Founder, Producers and in-house creative team to lead, develop, pitch, win and deliver a variety of high quality film and animation projects to agreed creative parameters that will excite and surprise our existing clients and help us to attract new ones.

The role will require someone to work across two main areas...

Day-to-day

• Work with our Producers to take / explore briefs in a constructive / positive way.

• Produce compelling ideas and written / visual proposals either in response to client briefs / RFPs or aspart of our wider client / project development activity.

• Give confident and convincing presentations of ideas / proposals either remotely or in person.

• Manage / oversee all aspects of the creative process across a number of projects at once, working with other members of the team and specialist freelancers.

• Lead the creative department and line manage the in-house team, providing encouragement and supportto build a strong team ethos.

• Help to drive ongoing client development / potential opportunities by working with the Producers todevelop and maintain trusted relationships with key clients.

• Work with the Founder and in-house team on the development and production of ‘Brave’ GG projects.

Leadership

• Identify opportunities to push the creative development of projects, taking us / our clients to new places.

• Drive and improve the wider creative output of the business.

• Understand the competitive creative environment for film and animation for brand / corporate /commercial work.

• Stay abreast of current thinking and trends and provide guidance and inspiration for the whole team aswell as our clients with a particular focus on social channels.

• Work with our Founder to develop and present our ‘Smart & Social’ thought leadership webinars and in-person client sessions.

• Develop the in-house creative team with oversight of their the personal / professional development and day-to-day work closely with the Producers to manage internal creative resourcing.

• Identify new talent - both full time and freelance - helping to ensure availability of appropriate resource.

Skills

• Demonstrable track record of success in pitching, winning and overseeing the creative across a variety of film and animation projects, preferably in the non-broadcast / brand sector.

• The ability to make sometimes dry subject matter compelling.

• Knowledge and understanding of a range of production, post-production and distribution techniques -from live action to animation and across various channels.

• Someone passionate about film and animation in all forms and with a keen interest in contemporary thinking about the role of the moving image in the digital / social environment.

• The ability to manage, encourage and motivate diverse teams of creative and technical people.

• Able to work with and manage the inputs of other employees and external resources.

• Must be able to communicate effectively via the written word in proposals and emails.

• An excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator and a confident, engaging presenter.

• Comfortable in a broad range of social environments from the Board Room through to the shop floor.

• Adept in use of Word and Outlook. The ability to use Keynote or similar would be ideal.

Background

• Has probably worked in-house in the role of Creative Director or Senior Creative for film / animation within the commercial / corporate production, agency or non-broadcast sectors.

• Has perhaps already progressed their career through a couple of different production companies / agencies and / or has a strong track record as a freelance creative / writer / director.

• Ideally someone with at least 15+ years of experience.

• Someone who is able to commit to the role and the development of the company.
